(Miami) The chairman of the Orange County Democratic Party has equated a gay Republican running for the Florida state legislature to Adolph Hitler.
Doug Head says gays who plan to vote for Patrick Howell are like "a Jew voting for Hitler".
Howell is the first out gay Republican to run for state office in Florida.
Democrats, Thursday, were attempting to distance themselves from Head's comments and the chairman was trying to mitigate the damage, claiming he saying he used the analogy with one gay black Democrat who was helping Howell circulate petitions.
The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, a non partisan GLBT organization which helps gays run for office called on Head to make a public apology.
"There is no comparison between a man who's participating in the democratic process and a totalitarian responsible for the slaughter of millions of innocent people, including Jews and gays," the group which has endorsed Howell, said in a statement.

I'm sure that in 1933 many German Jews did vote for Hitler.
Just like Americans who voted for Clinton and Gore in 1992, 1996, and 2000.

What's sad is that there was actually a need for someone to say that. It speaks volumes about the left.

After all, Doug, what in a name?
To: Torie
That information is available somewhere.
I would imagine some did vote for him, in the early thirties.
Remember there are still some who would vote for Clinton TODAY!

What is pathetic is how they have the shameless gall to attack Ann Coulter's book, Slander.

I must have missed the part about Republicans sending gays and liberals to concentration camps and gas chambers. As far as I can see, most conservatives just want the more fanatical GAYstapo members out of their children's indoctrination camps, er, educational systems...

The Palm Beach Post covered it this week and said the local
Log Cabin Republicans were very upset.

How many Germans knew about Hitler's anti-semitism prior to his election?
I know Mein Kampf had previously been published but was it well read?
My German relatives make it sound like his feelings were a big surprised.

Oh, but haven't you heard. The UN says the Jews are like Hitler. Only difference is that they are holicosting (new verb) the so-called Palistinians.

Hitler wasn't elected.Actually, yes he was. He was elected chancellor in 1933, but was later appointed president when Hindenburg was forced out by the nazis in the Reichstag. Thank God we have separation of powers provided for in the US Constitution.
