Thousands of radio listeners in Missouri and across the nation heard U.S. Senate Candidate Jim Talent discuss the issues in the Missouri Senate race Wednesday evening. But they didn't hear from Jean Carnahan.
As nationally syndicated host Jim Bohannon explained, Carnahan declined the show's invitation to appear in a segment with Talent, and declined to be interviewed by telephone separately, either before or after Talent's interview. Bohannon's Wednesday night program originated live from the Ozark Empire Fair in Springfield, Missouri, and was carried on 40 radio stations in Missouri and 400 stations coast to coast.
Carnahan's decision to stay away from a discussion of issues across Missouri and the U.S. is the latest example of a pattern in the race. Talent discusses issues, takes questions and talks about his experience and what he wants to accomplish in the Senate on behalf of Missouri on issues like jobs, health care and national security.
In contrast, in a consistent pattern, Carnahan declines a growing number of debate invitations from non-partisan organizations throughout Missouri and, as with the nationally syndicated Jim Bohannon Show, also declines settings that afford voters the opportunity to hear from both candidates in separate phone interviews.
The Wednesday decision by Carnahan to forego the radio interview is an example of this pattern: Talent accepts, Carnahan declines.

Why should she say anything? If her late husband could get elected saying nothing (he was dead) then she probably thinks that she can too!!

Are you trying to tell me "the Widder Woman" who has never held office before can't debate her way out of paper bag and so she turns down offers to debate? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!
She'd make history should she win-- two elections won just on sympathy. How dumb are Missouri's voters?

Looks like Carnahan is taking lessons from hitlery regarding open question appearances!

My impression is that Bohannon is-- and is viewed as-- a very moderate guy. For Carnahan to turn down what would have been a softball session was stupid-- and brilliant for Talent. Day-by-day Jim, you'll get those stupid independents to vote for you. Keep on keeping on.

Don't know a thing about the woman but some people only expose their weaknesses when they speak, ala Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.
Their "handlers" keep them from answering questions in public as much as possible.

I hope she gets defeated after her treatment of fellow Missourian John Ashcroft. He had a legal legitimate challenge against her taking the senatorial seat, but as a gentleman, he stepped aside. However, during his confirmation, would she support him? Absolutely NOT! She towed the party line like any other ungrateful democrazy.

I thought MO was the "Show Me" state...guess she doesn't want to do any of these "show and tell" programs, since she doesn't have anything to show and tell.

How dumb are Missouri's voters? I thought that was the "show me" state.

Amazing that Talent accepted, considering Bohannan is a leftist.
BTW, why don't we hear more about how Carnahan is an unelected Senator??????????

How dumb are Missouri's voters? I'd guess Missouri voters are OK.
The question is, how much election fraud are Missouri Democrat vote counters going to be allowed to get away with by Federal and Missouri election officials?

How dumb are Missouri's voters? You ask that when you live next to a state that put Hillary Clinton in the Senate? In retrospect electing a dead man doesn't seem that dumb after all.

I've never praised the intelligence of New York voters.

How dumb are Missouri's voters? Ask Dick Gephardt.

She could have shown some class - it would have been a harmless thing for her party as her vote wouldn't break a majority - but that samll gesture was too BIG for her. I won't ever forget that.

That wasn't a ping list per se - just some missouri Freepers that I thought of off the top of my head that would be interested in this thread. But I'll sure try to remember you next time I ping a MO or Midwest thread!
I do have a BIG list of KS-MO freepers that I only use for really important occasions. You are already on that.

I live in Illinois just on the other side of the river from Missouri (and plan to move there soon). So I get Missouri based programming. Over the past few weeks, Jim Talent has aired very well done positive campaign ads, nightly as far as I can tell. From the Carnahan camp, zip. Granted, it's early and I don't watch a lot of tv, but since I have an interest in this race I would have remembered if I had seen one. Even someone with a libertarian bent like me would be at least somewhat impressed and might even prefer him to a no-name Lib. and definitely in favor of ...what was her name again? From what I have seen so far I'll call it: Talent by 12 points. I wish him well.

Thanks KC!! I appreciate it.
