To: A_perfect_lady
I'm reminded of the line from scripture. To whom much is given, much is expected.

That being said I am in no way advocating just throwing money at this problem. Accountability must be maintained, other wise any aid given (public or private) will just be wasted. and 10 years from now things will be the same only worse. As too the particulars of how the aid is distributed and who gets it I really can't say. But being a conserative Christian I lean toward church(ie the body of Christ).
there is a group (whos name escapes me) that provies no/low intrest loans to people starting small businesses, this seems to me a real good way to go.

Christians are certainly free to do as they please, however, I am not a Christian and I do not want my country harnessed to a policy of clutching anchors in deep waters because of some or another "Holy" text.
