Only His Sheriff Knows for Sure: Search at Jail Proves Traficant's Unruly Mane Really a Toupee

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - Ex-congressman James A. Traficant Jr.'s famous mop-top is a rug. Some people thought the hair was too unruly to be a toupee. But Sheriff Drew Alexander said the newly sentenced Traficant had to remove the hairpiece this week during a routine search while being booked into the Summit County Jail.
Traficant, 61, was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in federal prison for corruption. He was immediately led off to jail in handcuffs after the judge refused to let him remain free on bail while he appeals his conviction.
The former representative from Youngstown, who was expelled by the House last week, is being held temporarily in the jail while awaiting assignment to a federal prison.
Alexander said Traficant was allowed to keep the toupee in his cell and jail personnel didn't require him to remove it for his booking photo.
But federal prisoners aren't allowed to wear toupees, so Traficant must give it up when he's sent to federal prison soon, said Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman Traci Billingsley.

Is this really AP? Seems a little sophomoric for a news agency.

What a picture! The first thing that came to mind when I saw that image was this: it looks like a frame from the Johnny Cash movie,
The Pride of Jesse Hallam.

I agree. I just think that the media is trying to humiliate the man. He should not have to worry about private matters made public.

He is there because he pointed out the emperor had no clothes. Not that he was wearing any either.
He did the functional equivalent of a mob boss talking to the cops about his associates.

I just think that the media is trying to humiliate the man. Kick a guy when he's down, I guess. But then I am sure AP never ridiculed the hairstyle of that cop-killer Mumia what's-his-name.

I am not sure he belongs in jail, It is possible but when 3 jurors come out, after the one witness he was allowed in the Congressional Ethics hearing ( I believe 9 of the witnesses he wanted to call were disallowed at trial) testify and say they would have acquitted him had they knew that in the trial then something is up.
What I am saying is I still have a reasonable doubt and that doubt gets larger when the Briber of Senator Torricelli is in jail for illegal campaign contributions and the bribee, the Senator himself, only gets a nasty letter saying please dont get caught doing this again.
Traficant was removed because he was a loose cannon. He had become an Independant and therefore outside the Good Ol' Boy control network. He would be much more dangerous to the "Repocrats" that way.
He was removed because he was running as an independant.
Meanwhile you have two sitting democrat reps guilty of statutory rape, One male member of a 16 year old boy and another male member of a 17 year old girl. They are both still members in good standing of the U.S. House of Representatives. I know they are democrats in both cases because I know the name of one and though I don't know the other if he was Republican he would have been driven from the House by all the demorat sycophants such as the NAG's( National Alliance of Gals).

Then shouldn't we vote them out? Shouldn't "the people" investigate the entrenched bureaucrats that are likely a great deal of the inertia behind exporting all of our jobs, money and standard of living overseas to the Communist Chinese elite who are using it to build missles to point at us?
One place to start might be AmericaFirstParty.org. They have this strange thing the media can't deal with...Its called priciples. They are right there for all to see. We are starting with the local elections first. Come help take our country back.

It would be beautiful if Fox or John Stossel picked up on the question...."Why aren't these other statuatory rapist and crooks in jail with Trafficant?"

I will do some research to determine that my facts are correct as I remember them and then I will. I have to be absolutely correct about this. I will post later tonight if I am complete if not I will post to give an update on progress and how much longer it will be. Probably about 2100 EDT
