Although I am not surprised at this, it is just disgusting.

SAN ANTONIO — Flood victims whose cable converters were destroyed during this month's heavy rains are being charged $300 for the damaged boxes by the company, officials said Tuesday

Just tell Time-Warner what the insurance companies tell people. ACT OF GOD.

That will REALLY piss the anti-christian Ted Turner off :)

Got a feeling they are not going to collect anything for their boxes. I hope they lose lots of business. I'd never have them.

The least Time Warner could do here is only charge these flood victims the "replacement cost", or their cost for the boxes.

I'm certain it's far less than $300.

"We are sympathetic to them," she told the San Antonio Express-News. "But we are going to @#$! them anyway."

They sound like democRATs don't they? "I feel your pain. Now bend over."

Well, you know, I find this interesting. I had seven feet of water come into my apt. last summer with Allison, right here in Houston. I had digital cable with Time Warner and both of my boxes were damaged. I returned both of my boxes to them and they didn't charge me anything. They just said that they would if I didn't return them, damaged or not. Double standard for the folks in San Antone?

"People have their boxes stolen," she said. "It would be really hard to treat one person differently than another. If someone is robbed, that's not their fault either."

Well, bright lady, perhaps we should revisit the obvious:
The claim of something having been stolen is easy enough to make, true or not.
An areawide flood, documented by miles of videotape and reams of print is... well, clearly different.

Perhaps the other policy should be revisited too, although I trust that even an uncompromising bureaucratic mind can see the clear distinction.
