WASHINGTON -- While Rep. John Doolittle works to stall any progress on raising Folsom Dam in hopes of getting a multipurpose dam built at Auburn, the Senate is moving ahead with firm conviction that the $219 million project is crucial for Sacramento's flood protection.

'Dam' it!

Good Lord. I grew up in South Placer County. That was about 20 years ago. They were trying to build Auburn Dam then. I remember going to the Auburn Dam overlook becuase there was actually construction activity. The greenfreaks predictably went into hysterics.

I have only one thing to say:
Fill The Dam Cavity In Auburn, California!!!
To: Doohickey
The engineers were down there in that canyon in 1924 scoping that project out. The project was 2/3rds complete when Jimmy Carter wouldn't fund it because CA voted for Ford instead of him. Plus, the commercial rafters were friends of Jerry Brown/Gray Davis who emboldened Jimma ta stop it in 1977... almost exactly a quarter century ago!
The 1986 flood washed out 1/3rd of the project and almost over-topped Folsom Dam. The 1995 and 1997 floods also threatened the Crapitol of CA while "Friends (aka fiends) of the River" lobbied congress not to fund this already authorized flood control/water storage/clean power generating resource.
The rafters just aren't satisfied with doing their business on the South Fork American. They will block our "solar powered time machine" on the other two forks until their dying breath!!!
It won't be built till water is standing 15' up the side of the Crapitol building and both houses along with the Governor has to be rescued by rubber rafts and heliocopters!!!

Gosh, I remember thatI I was working in Roseville and living in Meadow Vista. Everything was flooded! I had a T shirt that said I survived the flood of '86.
