Media Picking Up on EIB Rubin Push

On Monday, we raised quite a ruckus over the fact that former Clinton Treasury Secretary Bob Rubin is not being called to testify before the Lieberman Enron committee. You can read that story linked right here, and thanks to the power of the EIB Network, you can also hear whispers about this story in other media outlets. Finally!
We can't rest until this is done, my friends. We must force this to happen. We have to get that man up before Congress, swear him in, and force him to answer tough questions about his tenure as treasury secretary during all these scandals - and his role as an Enron flunky.
Remember, Rubin rang the phones off the hook at the Bush White House trying to get them to do something to save Enron - until the Bush people told him to lose the number, because it was unethical and improper for a former treasury secretary to act that way. We have to keep the pressure on this guy. Joe Lieberman is running this committee in the Senate, yet he's ignoring the first and biggest corporate scandal for partisan reasons.
He knows Enron leads right to Rubin, and right to Ken Lays' overnight stays in Bill Clinton's Lincoln Bedroom. That's right! Some in the media started to pick up on this story last night. We're not going to say which ones, because we don't want them to stop asking the questions out of fear their liberal friends will scream at them. We're just going to keep demanding: "Put your hand on the Bible, Bob."

Terry McAuliffe should also be on-deck warming up for his turn at bat...

With all due respect to Rush, the serious push for Rubin started on Free Republic about 3 weeks ago. Just ask Howlin and Miss Marple.
Some of us started asking the "Where's Bob" question then the best darn researchers anywhere put together link after link after link detailing not just Rubin's call on Enron, but all his other questionable dealings.

How very nice of you to remember that! Thanks! Credit should also go to kcvl as well, and Fracas.
Actually, it doesn't matter to me as long as the knowledge gets spread to the general public. I am sick of Rubin being groomed for sainthood, and his article blaming the recession on the tax cut was the last straw.
Also, someone reminded me today of the Mexican bailout back in the early days of the Clinton Administration, and how that was done to save some banks, no doubt Citibank being one of them. Rubin engineered that deal as well.
To: Miss Marple
Agreed, in the GWB era, we don't care about who gets the credit, just so it gets done. BTW, did you see "Mini Bob" get blistered on Hannity and Glass Eye? Who was the Pubbie who brought facts to the table and wouldn't back down? And where do we order a couple dozen more of the same?
To: gov_bean_ counter
You mustn't do this! This would point the finger at citigroup where Bob is a(?) vice-president in charge of (?). They have enough trouble concealing all their derivative deals and buy-back schemes that Rubin put together for them. My citibank stock will keep falling, and falling and falling. Anyway, you get the picture. Supeeny the SOB and get the show on the road.

Actually, it was the guy subbing for Rush early last week. That's all he talked about that day was Rubin. It wasn't Roger Hedgecock, I think the guy's name was Sullivan, or something like that.

No, I missed it. My husband had turned to Hardball, and before I knew it, from the other room I was hearing Mike Barnacle and Peter Arnett wringing their hands over going to war with Iraq. This was followed by Lawrence O'Donnell saying that President Bush's mother stayed home with him and therefore he didn't understand why women had to work (or something like that) and then Barnacle said that President Bush acted like working at the IHOP is as important as a college degree.
I turned to the weather channel in self-defense.

I would love to see it happen, only problem is the, "I don't recall" factor. Then nothing happens to the person testifying. It's a Clinton thing.

There are real problems for Rubin if he testifies. We all know the folks on stage today are under investigation. Taking the fifth was a given. The problem for Rubin is if he starts spinning he spins himself into the perjury trap. If he takes the fifth, then watch Citi-whatever's stock dive even more because it means Citi is in the Feds sights as well. Believe me, it is not just the Dems who don't want to see Rubin testify. Also, in either scenario, the Clintons don't come off looking too hot either.
To: Miss Marple
No I didn't. Thanks.
To: Miss Marple; Tuco-bad

In all fairness, if you want to give credit, it was (gasp) Tuco-bad who first slammed Rubin's corrupt history here on FR back in 2000 prior to the election. Of course, he also slammed Graham's history for balance, but he was the first around here to point out Rubin's dealings ala LTCM, Mexico bailout, Enron, Citigroup, and the repeal of Glass-Stegall (which was an ex-post-facto action to make the Citibank - Travellers merger viable)...

Thanks...I didn't know that! Well, congratulations to him for doing so!

The demand that Rubin be subpoenaed to testify in front of Congress began with the Senate Republicans.
The story was picked up by the media and then by conservative talk radio.
Rush is rather late coming to the party and he's spinning like the very devil in order to convince the dittoheads that he's leading the parade.

I think the guy on with Robert Reich tonight, on H & C, was a Congressman from Pennsylvania, but I can't recall his name.

This would point the finger at citigroup where Bob is a(?) vice-president in charge of (?). Our very own Robert Rodham Rubin is Vice-Chairman at Citigroup.
And Holy Joe Looberman (tears and violins here) ain't gonna call him, no matter what.
That pious hypocrite is busily running for El Presidente, and Rubin's truthful testimony sure isn't going to help the Dumbohypocrites or Holy Lugubriosman (TM).

See Terry McAuliffe's THEFT of funds from the I.B.E.W. to the tune of 6 million in a FR psot here about a week ago. The domino principle is about to begin....

O'Donnell is a jerk. We watched him fill in for matthews a couple times when we USED to watch matthews and this guy was boring as a paperclip. What the heck does he know anyway?>?
To: cubreporter
Who is the guy on CNN (I think, maybe crossfire) who wears the bow tie and has the black, big poof hair? We were channel surfing the other night and landed on him
My thirteen year old daughter said he looked like him mother dressed him. I couldn't get out of the floor, I was laughing so hard.
