SKINNER FOR GOVERNOR ^ | JULY 29, 2002 | LIBERTARIAN PRESS RELEASE

REPUBLICANS DROP CHALLENGE, ADMIT ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUD WERE WRONG

Skinner will be on November Ballot

Illinois Republicans announced today that they will withdraw their challenge to the Libertarian Party's ballot access petition, guaranteeing that gubernatorial challenger Cal Skinner will be on the November ballot. The challenge was being called "frivolous" and "absurd" for its assertion that over 25,000 voter signatures were either forged or otherwise inappropriately obtained. In addition, suspicions were raised that Republicans may have illegally used workers on the state's payroll to conduct campaign activities in blatant violation of campaign laws. More information will be posted as it becomes available

THIS BALLOT CHALLENGE WAS A JOKE LED BY RINO JIM RYAN AND SOME OF THE SAME CAST OF CHARACTERS THAT KICKED THE LIBERTARIANS OFF IN 1998.

The Republicans in Illinois with a few exceptions act like Democrats, they are going to get their butt beat this year and deserve it. The last 5 Republican governors have raised taxes and in the last 26 years of rule the state budget went for $10 billion to $54 billion.

Libertarians put Maria Cantwell in the senate in Washington state. Giving the country to the Dems is not going to help the Libertarian Party. I wish they would start locally instead of ruining the rest of the country. I am a registered Libertarian.

I voted for Poshard the last time because he was a Demo with Rep ideals.

And I want to state that the politico in IL stinks.

But I would rather have a Rep "acting" like a Demo than having that monkey-looking Greek dude in office.

Check out his record, it has more slime on it than those squids that beached yesterday.

I know what you think but believe me when I tell you the Republican Party in Illinois is very bad, their new chairman is the best they've probably had in years but he just took power FRIDAY JULY 26TH, this year I can't vote for Republican's statewide with the exception of AG candidate BURKETT maybe, the country clubbers have ruled with an iron fist and killed nearly every conservative in the general if they managed to win the primary.

Enough is enough, Illinois won't matter nationally this year, Dick DURBIN will win in a walk over JIM DURKIN MCCAIN'S BOY IN ILLINOIS, the LIBERTARIANS SENATE candidate won't be the difference that Washington state had in 2000.

Thanks for the info. I was really upset by the last election here in Washington state. I try to vote Libertarian locally (maybe that is why Washington state is a mess!), but realize the importance of the house, senate and presidency.

I didn't mean Libertarians are messing up Washington state locally, but the Democrats are! A lot of people vote Libertarian, especially on the east side. Tends to elect dems.

And are the Republicans starting to get a clue that in order to win they need to adopt liberty-minded policies?

The problem in Illinois is ballot access, we basically have 2 corrupt parties here. They only need 5,000 signitures for statewide office to get on the ballot and rarely are candidates that get more than that challenged. ILLINOIS only recognizes parties where a statewide candidate or district candidates get 5%, then candidates running for those offices only need the lower 2 party petition requirements and can have primaries and slate candidates without any signitures if noone filed for primaries.

3rd parties on the other hand need a minimum of 25,000 for statewide office signitures and you had better have a lot more than that if your challenged, 40,000 minimum almost to survive ballot challenge. If you need 8 times as many signitures as the 2 power parties their is no incentive for them not to crap on their normal electorate or try to appeal to other people because it takes so much time, effort, and money to go thru this process most people won't bother.

3rd parties have a hidden poll tax basically of $75,000 to $100,000 to get the signitures and pay for lawyers to argue on their behalf, it costs money to collect that many signitures without the promise of jobs or connections the dems and pubs have in Illinois.

Why won't ANY Republican politicians in Illinois come out and say that King George is a Democrat? All one has to do to prove that is look at a 1998 election map. King George got the majority of votes in Chicago; his challenger got the majority of votes elsewhere in the state.

i'm not working for the greek dude or the AG that wouldn't prosecute JESSE, GEORGE RYAN, MIKE MADIGAN, or 9-11 charity rip off artists.

I believe he's referring to Badboyavich, the monkey-looking Serbian dude.

As for your pretentious attack on Jim Durkin...at least he's not pro-abortion and an advocate of open borders like the other THREE candidates (including your Libertarian guy) seeking the office.

Illinois would be a good state in which to test a coalition.

J. Ryan didn't prosecute G.(organ-donor for free face time) Ryan because the Feds are.

Mike Madigan (home rule vs. CCL) is a piece of $hit, but has to be pandered to because of Il politico stinkness.

9-11 guy was indicted in Macon county, on county charges, which is below the contricts of State jurisdiction.

Jesse was arrested in Macon County also on County charges, but, well, just figure (Decatur 7).
