BEIJINGS BUREAUCRATS HAVE also embarked on a Great Leap Forward in manipulating the weather by dispelling rain and fog, trying to ensure that nothing, er, clouds Chinas achievements and image during important public events. Well definitely be consulted on how to create beautiful conditions for the Olympics, says Wang Wang, one of Chinas foremost experts at Beijings Study Institute of Artificial Influence on the Weather.

    I don't know, but tampering with the weather on a large scale scares the hell out of me. It's consequences could be disasterous, and it's usefulness as a military weapon is terrifying.

    It was attempted in the late 1960's, but the plot was foiled by James Coburn. HAven't you seen any of the Derek Flint movies?
