How much of this 2 billion $'s did Club Sierra and other Green Jihadists get from these law suits you posted about below:
Who gets the contracts depends a LOT upon how the specs are written. Expect a raft of lawsuits. That's what happened after they burned 7 million acres in the 2000 fire season. Babbit cut loose with $2 billion for forest thinning in response to the fires. Guess what happened?
The lawyers will eat all the extra appropriations money. The USFS won't cut any substantial timber and won't thin the forests.
Bet on it.

Here is a very large NOAA photo taken last night. We have had smoke all afternoon and evening in the wine country of California about 380 air miles from these fires and where the 3 firefighters were killed Sunday night, the Stanza fires.

Thanks gd, all are safe here other then lots of smoke to deal with. The fire was 18 miles (approx.) away when I took the picture last evening. It has since traveled many miles on towards the Southwest, away from Grants Pass. This fire is moving fast. The local news stated it was burning 5 mph...that's a lot of timber going up in smoke.
I spoke with people in Kerby and Selma last night. Many are not happy campers with the way the fire is being handled.

This is really bad news for the people living in the Illinois River area, Biscuit/Florence fire area. They are being evacuated from their homes:
Southern Oregon Residents Get Evacuation Warnings
07/29/2002
By JEFF BARNARD, Associated Press Writer
Firefighters went door-to-door deciding which homes they could save, and residents packed up photo albums and important papers Monday as an explosive wildfire near Cave Junction fed off heat, wind and timber.
All 17,000 residents of the Illinois Valley in southwestern Oregon were on notice to be ready to evacuate as the Florence fire continued to expand through the Siskiyou National Forest.
The fire stood at 68,000 acres and continued to push south on a course to link up with the 20,000 acre Sour Biscuit fire. If they connect, they will create a 25-mile long fire front running parallel to U.S. Highway 199, about three miles west of Cave Junction and the communities of Selma, Kerby and O'Brien.
This is from KGWTV News.

Good night all.
All of you good Oregon people, please stay safe.
It is like you are living in Afghanistan last fall.

Great thread, Gramps. ;^)

Thanks for the heads up!

The forest service regularly thins trees and clears the area around this resort of undergrowth, etc.? I suppose that abutting areas not close to this 'resort' haven't been thinned or had underbrush cleared, thus creating conditions for extremely hot fires, which leap to the treetops of the healthier forests around the resort.
Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden should demand the Daschle Special-Home-State Forest Protection Amendment for Oregon as well!

Not a pretty picture !!
Stop the attacks by the wacko, extreme left-wing, enviro-nazis terrorist's on our Freedoms !!

It's awful here. Just awful. I heard Patrick's Creek Lodge had burned, it's on the way to the coast along the Smith River. Always before, if there was a bad fire and alot of smoke, we'd just drive above it in one of 3 other directions. There is no "above it" and there is no route out of here away from the smoke. A lot of people are going to be sick that are miles removed from the fire danger itself. The beauty that I've known my entire life that surrounds the Medford basin is gone. It boggles the mind. I just heard some upitty bitch lawyer with ORNC on Lars Larson. Like I said, it boggles the mind.
You two be good. Thanks for keeping this sad news upfront.

I would like to see the contributions of that resort versus the condo resorts in Welches, Oregon that abutt to the forest.
We were up 3 years ago in July and stayed in the condo resort at Welches. I couldn't believe the stacked and dead timber, brush and stuff within a short distance to the condos.
I would walk 3 miles out of my way using the edges of the golf course to get to the White River about 1/2 mile away to fly fish. I did one trip through, over, under and around the piled brush. I kept thinking of a giant weenie roast with me being the weenie. After I got through that so called short cut, I never went back. The front office babes had no idea what the so called short cut was like. I took the office manager down and she could not believe the dead brush build up 30 to 50 feet into the forests along the condos.
The Clintoonian Florist Service people were not allowing anyone to remove the dead trees or dying trees for even fire wood.

I feel so sorry for you and the other innocent victims of these Green Retribution.
Remember the face masks for dust/pollen saw dust that you can buy from Ace or a Home Depot. They aren't perfect but they can block a lot of smoke and some of the chemicals from the smoke.
Looking forward to hearing from Archie and hopefully he is okay.
Have you heard if the two fires joined over in the Illinois River area. I know where Patrick Creek's Lodge was or used to be.

No threat to us in the Basin. Just sickened to see the smog as thick as it is.
Aunt B - hope you don't live near Elk Creek. Understand the inversion that kept the Timbered Rock Fire in place lifted today & winds followed. The fire is out of control again. Basin smog is so thick, but must be nothing compared to your experience.
Biscuit & Florence joined in places & is a category 5 hurricane. 130K acres. They tried a 30K acre back burn - geesh. The back burn is larger than most fires.
Grampa - thanks for all the updates & activism. I'm able to follow at work occasionally, not able to post replies.
Skunk fire is getting under control as well as Lake County. They were significant fires, but nothing compared to whats happening on the coastal range. Holy Moses.
