The Roundtable is discussing Colin Powell and the New York Times who suggest he throw a tantrum or two so he can get his way.

All commented that the NYT must not hold Powell in high esteem if they think he can not defend his opinions without acting like spoiled brat.

OK, I'll bite the bullet and watch CBS's FACE THE NATION to see if Sheiffer asks Lieberman why Rubin won't be called to testify under oath about Citicorp's loans to a floundering ENRON, and about those phone calls, too. (I'm not holding my breath.)

And also to see if sleepy, already retired Fred Thompson challenges Lieberman when he spins himself into a pile of spagetti,

Oh, gee-- Russert is reading to Paul O'Neill from "The New Republic." LOL Then he tops it off with a question to O'Neill: Are you on your way out?
O'Neill is a man of grace and civility, with an amazing lack of blarney and dancing around issues. I LIKE O'Neill.

I may be in the minority, but I think O'Neill is stating his position very well, particularly nicking the media for it's failure to report the good economic news. Of course, if he grabbed Russert by the lapels and slapped him silly while he was saying it, I would have liked it even better.

Interesting discussion on Fox Sunday about the elections in November. Kristol actually said that the R's have a chance to take the Senate.

Tim Russert asks condescending, rude question: O'Neill, you do understand people are losing money in their 401's, their retirement, their college funds, don't you? Pumpkin heads need to be placed on fence posts and used for target practice, not hosting talk shows.

I think O'Neill is doing just fine. He is calm and asonable. Frankly, I wish he would punch Timmy in the face.

"Are you totally out of touch with the American people", Russert asks. Jeez! I've never seen such rude, insulting questioning, even from Tim. But instead of blasting O'Neill for his lack of combative response, I think O'Neill's patient cool when he disagrees with Tim's every premise, is exposing Russert's partisanship.

Russert has come into this interview to try to rip O'Neill to shreds any way he can. O'Neill refuses to take the bait.

I couldn't count the times Russert lost his cool, and interrupted O'Neill. He was almost frantic, desperate to grill O'Neill, and even more determined not to let O'Neill's responses be heard because he didn't like what he heard.

Very transparent performance by Russert!!

Au Contraire,,O'Neill knows about the economy,,,he is just not going along with the sky is falliing stance of the dems who want to use the stock market meltdown of a bubble to elect dems. O'Neill cannot fix the stock market, he cannot calm it down but he can say what is obvious,,the sky aiin't falling unless you are a dem and want the damn thing to fall for your own personal gain. Russert looked like a dem bully.

I get Meet The Press after Fox Sunday. After reading the posts in here, I am going to give it a pass today.

I am off to Fox News until This Week comes on.

please keep up the good reporting of MTP. I've promised I will suffer through FACE THE NATION to see if Lieberman is asked why he's not calling Rubin to testify, and if Fred Thompson will challenge Lieberman's responses.
