Watch and pray. The rescuers are optimistic that they will reach the cavity where the miners are located by midnight, perhaps as soon as 10pm et.
They just reported that several PA miners were caught in a similar situation thirty years ago AND WERE RESCUED ALIVE AFTER A WEEK IN THE HOLE.

Where's the live video feed? I'll be pissed if they are just running it live to the families, and making us watch the reruns. I am sure the families wouldn't mind if we share the moment.

Isn't that a bit nitpicky?
Perhaps, but he should know better if he's going to cover this.

Based on some of the questions I am hearing from these reporters, I seriously doubt that they understand much about the real world, that some jobs in this world are just damned dangerous. IE: What can be done to prevent this in the future? (accompanied by a rapid eye blink)
I even heard Geraldo, much earlier, ask one mining person if we might not need an investigation to determine if additional federal regulations might not be necessary to prevent this in the future.
And now...some of these newsies are asking questions from back in the studio, and the nature of their questions tell me they have never encountered anything more dangerous than hailing a cab.

Does Channel 6 still have the "poor man's Rush Limbaugh" as a news anchor? I think his name was Scott Thompson.

Jennyp, save your anti-god talk for another thread. Your really bummin me out. I am quite sure there is a many God fearing men/women working to get them miners out. So just let it rest.LOL! OK, didn't want to bum ya out.
On a more non-controversial note, I wonder what Mark Schweiker's plans are, now that he's not running for re-election. Do you think we could see Bush-Schweiker 2004?

My husband is a mining engineer and worked underground for quite a few years, until the coal mines in Indiana started to shut down. He now does engineering for a development company, and I am most grateful that I don't have to worry about the danger any more.
He misses the mines, however. He says that people who are frightened of them "just don't understand." (I don't like them!)
It is dangerous work, and those guys are tough. I am so glad they are ok!
All miners come up from underground black like that...it is the coal dust. I used to wash my husband's mine clothes, and it took two washings to get them to a shade of gray.

Thanks Jennyp

continued prayers...He still hears us and answers! Praise Him. Blessings to the families and to these men and ot the men who worked against the odds. May He be glorified in all of this!

Perhaps a short word of thanks to St. Barbara, patron saint of miners (and all who work with explosives, including my husband the fireworks maker), would not come amiss.
This statue of St. Barbara was carved out of the rock of the mine by one of the miners in Wieliszcka, Poland.

I wish Whoraldo would shut up once in a while. Just like most of the media maggots, Whoraldo feels the need to explain to all of us what happens when we are exposed to freally cold water for 4 days.
Whoraldo is an idiot
