Really? Glad to hear that about Tulsa TV. I kind of scanned the local news here in Dallas right after the word came out on survivers(10:20ish), didn't see a thing(though it wasn't a completely thorough scan). Just long extended stories on how some Dallas Cowboy had a runny nose, then Saturday Night Live, Entertainment Tonight with Leonard Maltin raving about a movie where the lady from Cheers seduces a 15 year old, etc.

I've seen that pic a hundred times. But we were discussing this on the other thread. The guy in that pic is huge, and I bet two guys could squeeze in if they were smaller.
Spokesman now saying that they are coming up one at a time.

Man look how black his face is. It must be aweful bad down there. I know when I get dirty I still try to keep the face clean. I don't know how much more they could of stood.

Geraldo: "Miners coming out soaking wet"

That just means you need to move to Tulsa! ;-)

For all those who are clamoring for White House invitations to be extended...
I think that would be an incredibly dumb idea. Why? Because from a scheduling standpoint, it would almost have to be a single visit, requiring all of the invitees to coordinate their schedules with that of President Bush. And then we run into the problem of whom to invite. Do we just invite the nine trapped miners and their families? What about the rescuers? And which rescuers? No matter how far the list gets extended, SOMEONE is going to feel unjustly overlooked.
The best thing for President Bush to do would be to wait until things settle down in PA, and then pay a visit to the site of the rescue. Nothing fancy, just a quick, low-key session for President Bush to meet those involved in the ordeal and show his gratitude for ordinary Americans rising to the occasion and overcoming adversity in typical ordinary American fashion. I really think it's important for the president to go to the people instead of making the people come to him. Somehow, I think his interest appears more sincere that way, so long as he doesn't hog the limelight like others have done before him.
Please pardon my use of the term "ordinary". I realize that it's practically an insult when applied to the efforts of those involved in the ongoing rescue efforts. But it's getting late and I can't find my thesaurus.

Well, now you've seen it 101.

Geraldo is officially a moron. Says fear is that miners will "freeze to death". Hypothermia does not involve freezing.

Tulsa is a nice town, was there briefly a few years ago on a business trip.

I agree with you. This is such great news for the families -- but it is also good for the country. It is a happy ending -- so far - and we needed that, but it also helps us to see our goodness and reminds us of our spirituality as a country. We turn to God -- each in our own way -- but the "turning" unites us. And President Bush is beautifully and masterfully encouraging us in our goodness and our relationship with God.
Yeah, this is a good thing all around -- and I'm keeping up my prayers :-)

Fox is reporting the first man up was soaking wet and his face all black with soot.
Keep praying that they will be okay.
