the mob thing is more than truthful. Many italians I know (including me) have more than one relative who is ahem "different". Many wops are proud of their "relations" (If I have to hear that Gotti was a good man one more time I think I'll slit my own wrists.) The stereotype will go away as time goes on though, I'm sure.
I'm like, 25 and not much of a chef, but I can cook better Italian than the olive garden. It's a question of ingredients.

But what I cannot do is come up with dishes that appeal to a broad enough audience I could base a multi-million dollar restaurant chain around them. They do that part pretty darn well.
