As soon as I saw your "Tinfoil Hat ON" line the same thought about Digital Angel popped into my head. I think you may be on to something.
That said, I pray that this little girl is found quickly and that she is unharmed.

BTW, this is what I think really happened to Danielle Van Dam. She walked out of that house, and someone got her. NOT DW. I agree....and around the same time...before 8am.

FYI...please help spread the word.

There may be some small truth to your tinfoil speculation...but I also believe that "networking" and getting information out ASAP can help find the perp quickly.
The media combined with the public in the area can lead to a rescue and arrest.

You don't think this is a reflection of today's society? When I was this girl's age, I could play outdoors with my friends, in Washington DC no less, without fear of being kidnapped or killed. Something is happening and I consider these reports as wake-up alarms!

I haven't commented thus far, but I have to predict that all of this coverage is to fuel the fire of any parent's worst fear and to accelerate the microchipping program that is already in the works.
I would not put it past the media. Local media here has turned into mush. Stories on health foods, loads of weather, health walks, testing new gadgets (I have noticed from my web links page I have to tv news stations that they all test the same gadget and review it at the same time), and filling us with 80%+ fluffy stuff. It's a lot like smart cards - the board members on the companies that make smart cards are also members of the boards of companies implementing them the quickest...
Here is the link to my site, browse through some of the stations and see how much crap there is on 'news' stations. As a side note, the site will be overhauled in August with ratings, affiliate info, clean up some inks, etc.

When you start putting 2 and 4 together, an ugly picture appears.
Not to downplay a parent's angst over the disappearance of a child, but the upswing in media coverage is disturbing. Are they trying to get the word out as quickly as possible to aid in the rescue? Or is the coverage driven by a more sinister motive?
Or more likely, is it a combination of both? I don't have any answers, just a few provocative questions!

Point conceded. However: Hate to sound cynical, but I'll believe that the reason for reporting and posting on missing children is to help in their recovery when I see an ongoing thread with the same emotional frenzy as this one for every suspected child abduction - not just for those who get their pictures on TV.
Having said that, I hope and pray that they find the child and I'm glad Freepers care enough to want to help. What a network we can provide! Obviously not all of us are as hardened as I am. Thank God.

You're gettin close! How much local coverage of animal chip implants have you all noticed? I've see it discussed at least twice in the past month.
To: Texaggie79
It does happen often, although not usually by strangers.
However, nothing the media does is by accident. The Van Dam case was not the first high-profile kidnapping that the media swarmed over.
All kidnapping cases should be covered in an effort to find the child quickly, but it has become the latest news de jour and that means there is an agenda in the works.

Agreed we can wait for the facts, but if these facts follow the current trend, its time to start castrating and jailing pedophiles. Zero Tolerance must be the policy.
I have a question, Is this not a big enough problem that the Governement or Bush should not at least take a stand or at least comment on it? I beleieve Sheriff Carona from Orange County was in D.C this morning at the Bush address.
I mean how many little kids have to be abducted before someone steps forward and says that we as a society and as a species will not tolerate this behavior?
This has been bothering me alot lately here folks, I dont just mean casually concerned either. I believe that something must happen. I think one conviction of child sexual contact or assault should result in life imprisonment with their balls in a glass jar next to their cot.
IF the child sexual assault results in death of the child as in Samanthas case, it should be immediate bullet to the head. Or as one freeper posted earlier this week, put the perp in an electric chair in the courtroom, jury finds him guilty, they throw the switch and electrocute them on the spot. How much is too much? How many children to die is not enough to make a stand?
Yes I have a new baby girl at home and I am freaking out on this sh!t.

"Is this really a tragedy? Maybe."I don't know how the others feel here, but everytime a child is abducted it is a tragedy. We may not hear of every single case because that would mean they would have to have a "Missing Child TV" show to keep us updated due to the large volume of abducted children that go unreported by TV everyday.
Hopefully, since the media got this information out so quickly to the public, as they did with Samantha Runnion, this little girl will be found, safe and sound, unlike Samantha Runnion. I am watching an interview right now with the mother and father? of this little girl. It is truly heartbreaking.
Freepers are good people..we are not "tabloid" seekers, at least not the ones that I know.
So, even though you may be doubtful as to whether this is real news or tabloid news, I know you are wishing for a happy outcome in this case. She was in the kitchen one minute, gone the next. Let's just hope for the moment that LEO's can find her, and then we can decide how it should be reported.

I just woke up - MSNBC has the local people on TV on now

Something is happening and I consider these reports as wake-up alarms! Yes, and one of those wake up alarms could be that internet child porn is MORE of a catalyst than media coverage (as one poster suggested)

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
Remember that the liberal mantra has always been:

The way MSNBC is reporting this...there was a man staying on the couch where they were sleeping at. He shows up soaking wet at 8:30 am and the cops ask him where ya been? He says..."Swimming in the river...why? What's wrong?"
Folks...this girl is in the river. God watch her.

I'm glad the media is covering these abductions more. I've been in the media and cannot believe any two people in the industry could get past personalities to conspire on anything.
What's happening is a rash of abductions of children taken from homes and in broad daylight by non-family members -- sexual deviates. It is a horrifying trend and worthy of intense coverage.
