Riordan backs voter registration on Election Day

Former Los Angeles Mayor RichardRiordan on Wednesday announced his endorsement of a November ballot initiative that would allow voters to register to vote on Election Day.

Proposition 52 proponents said Riordan's endorsement is further evidence of bipartisan support for election-day voter registration.

Uh huh. Why make voting easier. One would think if people took voting seriously they would register well before election day. And the kind of people too lazy to exercise the franchise are precisely the people who shouldn't be voting on election day, period.

Frankly, I'm for full background checks for registered voters - no more motor votor fraud crap - AND - a federal marshall (preferrably ugly), staring down folks as they step up to vote. Without the RAT fraud, bush wouldn't have even NEEDED florida!

Is this RINO still running around and spewing nonsense? Election-day voter registration is prescription for fraud. Period. End of thought. It was used in Wisconsin for many years (don't know if it still is now or not), and multiple votes by the same voter was a common result. Literacy was also not a requirement, so any pack of illiterates could be put on the rolls, and since they could not read the names of the candidates, the poll worker was authorized to enter the booth and assist them in marking the ballot. The dyslexia victim wouldn't know the difference.

Mexicans voting in Mexico have to have registered previously,have a photo ID,sign the poll book where their signature is compared to one on record and they must be thumbprinted. For a Mexican to vote in LA requires a utility receipt. Are we stupid or what.

Gore won Wisconsin in 2000 as a direct result of voter fraud, which was greatly facilitated by same-day registration.

Any Republican that advocates same day registration should be thrown out of the party and never receive another dollar of Republican support.

It is no accident that is is primarily those on the left who decry "low participation" - Republicans are, as a group, more likely to vote. The last thing we want to do is facilitate a broad increase in voter participation, since the demonrats will gain more of the incremental vote than we will.

It is common sense: who is more likely to have their sh*t together, and be registered to vote before election day: the average employed, stable suburbanite contributing member of society or the average urban, unemployed, transient welfare case?

What do you have to prove about yourself, and corroborate, to obtain a MasterCard?

What do you have to merely state about yourself, let alone corroborate, to get a voter registration card?

That pair of questions tells you all you need to know, about which action is genuinely valued by The Powers That Be in our civil society.

If voting under such a lax system really mattered, when all is said and done, it wouldn't be legal.

I wrote a letter to the editor (not published, I wonder why) which accused McKay of lacking vision:

"When I began reading your article (about the initiative) I thought it would be for the purpose of handing out voter registrations at Taco Bell. With your burrito you get the franchise! How cool is that?!?"

I guess that's next. Meanwhile, the L.A. Times was not amused.

Why not just put registration forms at the border? Maybe there can be a Democrat registration desk out in the desert next to the water station for thirsty illegals.

Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC were spun off from Pepsi several years ago in a corporation called Tricon Global (YUM). They've since added A&W Root Beer and Long John Silver's to the mix and changed their name, to what, I on't recall at this time. Maybe this McKall guy is a franchise operator?
