It looks like you may be right, Jolly. After re-reading Boylan's interview with Katie Couric, I notice that she mentions the work of the SLCPD/FBI repeatedly, suggesting that perhaps she is involved on an official level. However, Ed Smart's statement above seems to suggest that he is taking at least partial credit for her involvement.
At the risk of incurring your wrath (yet again), I have to say that it's things like this that make Ed Smart look bad. This the third time that he has broken "news" about official developments by claiming personal knowledge or involvement (i.e., the mysterious letter, the disappearing e-mail, and now Boylan's work.) It just seems very strange to me.
Earlier Tuesday Ed Smart told The Associated Press that "we did have her come in, and we feel there's going to be a tremendous benefit out of what she's done. We've put everything in the police's hands."
It sounded like he is saying the family brought her in and when she finished, the family placed averything in the police hands.
Substituting "family" for "we" in both places that's the way I read it.
If you substitute "police and family" for "we", then the second "we" wouldn't make sense.
Just thought I would tell you that.
Yeah, it sounds like Ed Smart doesn't trust LE in this any more than I do.
