| 05/30/02 | Thursday | ~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency. |

| 06/05/02 | Wednesday | ~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard, two blocks from the Smart residence ~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home ~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife. ~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today. ~ 7:21am - Rachel/Amber alert is issued and national media is involved. ~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it. ~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself) ~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV) |
| 06/06/02 | Thursday | ~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm ~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong) |
| 06/08/02 | Saturday | ~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fixed. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes this also. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002. |

Aw, I'm so sorry Brigette. I had to have my best little buddy put to sleep 2 weeks ago, I'm still sick over it.
I agree with that. However, I heard it, and so many commentators have commented on the strange thing T.Smart said in the interview, both on cable shows and in print.
Sad thing is, it takes so much time to remember when in all this time, it was broadcast, who wrote about it, when it was printed..etc. to be able to Google it out !!

We all have issues. Anybody's taken -- we've been ripped apart to the core. And we understand that everybody has issues. And we pray hard that whoever this is will know that the family is full of compassion towards everybody because this is a wonderful story, in a lot of ways.
Because it's about, foremost, a beautiful, little angelic girl. But it's also about -- everybody has issues no matter what. It crosses the boundaries on everything. It's an amazing story.

Recci was one of the men working when it took place,
he let them all go,
Recci had hours to work off on a car of Smarts,
and Mr. Smart reconsider's because he had promised Richard he could work off the car,
and let's him come back into the house and work !
even tho at the time, he wasn't sure if Richard was the one who did the burglary?

From 6/19/02 newspaper article...Louis said there is no composite sketch of the abductor because the 9-year-old was unable to sufficiently describe his facial features.
Remember in the video, Mr. Smart says to the anchorette that Recci came and told him he had taken a polygraph ?And then he says "Now I know he lied to me " (paraphrased) Maybe that is when Mr. Smart let him continue to work off the car.
Now think of this.....does anyone know....when the Smart home had the burglary, did Mr. Smart REPORT it? Was there an investigation? Did he list what was stolen? Is there a police report on the burglary?
I keep asking myself, why the police didn't check on the worker's homes...but maybe THAT is the answer...(no report filed). Why would a smart business man in a million dollar + home, not check out the polygraph with the police? And why would he not report it if he didn't ?? This worker just tells him this, and he backs down, and let's him continue? huh? strange.

I tend to agree. The punctuation is key and we can only guess about that. I'm more focused on the following:
I have worked on and typically I am brought in to undo damage that has been done inadvertantly by investigators through leading questions, etc. In this case, I was actually fairly stunned to arrive at the scene and find out none of those mistakes have been made. The've done exceptionally well at protecting and preserving Mary Katherine's recall. A traditional sketch artist, would come early on in with a supply of visual information, catalogs of facial features, etc, and ask them to, asking the eye witness to pick among those features to create a composit. That can be distructive to eye witness recall. That wasn't done in this case, out of a want to protect her information early on...so everything has been done really suburbly in this case by both the Police, the F.B.I. and in addition to the people surrounding and supporting Mary Katherine."
KATIE: "And in fact, part of the problem, I understand, of producing a sketch early on, it can contaminate the memory of that individual and really muddy what they actually recall about what they've seen."
BROYLAN: "Exactly, and that wasn't done in this case. So I really have to commend the Salt Lake Police Department and the F.B.I. for doing a supurb job at protecting this information, and the way they are utilizing the information. We were able to produce internally for very sound reasons, as well, and things are being done very professionally in this case."
I believe the "out of a want to protect her information early on" phrase is significant. They have a reason for not releasing the sketch. It just occurs to me that maybe MK is bait. If the perp thought she got a good enough view, he/they might want to silence her and a trap might lay in wait.
There isn't any logic to it. He either was working in September or he wasn't. Assuming the theft was in June, then I don't think he was working there in September based upon the interview I saw.
Sometimes it helps to read transcripts, now that we are further down the road. They sure show some things different.
By the way...who is this "charlie" ?
