Dan Burton is supporting a delay until September 4. It seems rather clear that the Democrats totally want to get rid of Traficant, both because he votes with the Republicans, and also because he was an outspoken critic of Reno and Clinton and their Chinagate scandal.
To: mystery-ak
"Let's just take a deep breath, wait 4-5 weeks, and vote when we come back." Burton is the most rational sounding one there so far.

"Let's just take a deep breath, go on break, and come back and vote on this issue. What in the world is wrong with waiting?" Thank you, Rep, Burton.

The Justice Department also should have delayed the execution of McVeigh, until the new evidence that had been hidden could have been properly evaluated.

I read earlier this week at FR that Teddy Kennedy has somebody he wants to take Trafficante's place Yup, heard the same thing but later learned that he lost his seat due to redistricting and would have to compete against four strong nominees in Youngstown (I believe) and his chances were slim.

Does the vote to expel have to be the majority present for the vote or the majority of the House?

Does the vote to expel have to be the majority present for the vote or the majority of the House? Two-thirds of those voting.

I didn't know that Jones had been both a judge and a prosecutor.Perhaps at the same time. Seriously, she was practically appointed to the house since, in her district, she is an automatic victor. I knew she was a judge, but she must have been an assistant to the assistant county prosecutor in Cuyahoga County, from which she hails.

he got enough to qualify on the ballot as an independent... Maybe he would of pulled enough votes away from the dems to elect a rep...
