San Francisco -- San Francisco could become the first city in the nation to get into the pot-growing business to supply patients with medicinal marijuana, under a measure headed for the November ballot.
The measure would urge city officials to explore growing cannabis and distributing it to seriously ill patients who have an OK from their doctors -- in apparent defiance of federal law.

S.F. considers growing its own, Ballot measure will ask city to cultivate pot for medicinal useConsidering how poor a job government does at just about anything it attempts to do, I can only imagine what Official San Fran Gold will be like - probably akin to inhaling from a prarie fire...

So now we will have a Federal-city confrontation. San Fran is a big enough political entity that this may be THE wedge to get the stuff decriminalized (like it ought to be).

I thought Federal Law *ALWAYS* superceded State Law? Oh wait, I forgot, this is California and they are above the law. Red Commies!!!!! =)

I think they'll be tanks in the streets before the feds back off and set a states rights precedent. They depend too much on the money from both sides of this WOsD.

The Feds never had any business banning pot, any more than without a constitutional amendment they had any business banning liquor. If California wants to stomp on San Fran, more power to it. But out! out! out! Uncle Sam.

That has allowed the distribution of clean needles, which slows the spread of AIDS, hepatitis and other communicable diseases. San Francisco "Of course we encourage our male residents to bugger each other with abandon so AIDS continues to spread and kill. But at least we can imagine that we are doing something about it."
"We don't want sick people to get marijuana from drug pushers," he said.
San Francisco "We're tired of those untaxed drug pushers treading on our turf. We'll push the drugs here in our town. "

My thoughts exactly. If you think illigal drugs are expensive now, just wait till the government starts producing them.

Should be good for the other states that sell electrical power to Cali...since they will need more power for their state funded grow-op.
