In discussing national population and economic patterns, leave it to the Post to not use the word "tax" once. Not once.

Correct. Poor people don't pay taxes. Hence an outflow of tax payers FROM the region and an inflow of tax recipients TO the region.

I detect a pro-immigrant subtext to the article. Aren't we lucky because immigrants saved the day. But what the article really shows is how taxes can alter population patterns.

From the "balance" of the article: If not for immigrants, New York State would have lost one-tenth of its population.

When people think of "immigrants", many naturally think of Mexicans, Haitians, "illegals", and similar such.

The DLS (dirty little secret) is that we haven't had a discussion about the character of recent immigrants...they are overwhelmingly Muslim from the Middle East and Pakistan. That demand for teachers of English as a Second Language doesn't refer to Spanish fluent.

Whole areas of Brooklyn, like Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Flatbush, and New Utrect, not to mention Queens are being taken over, as are the older cities of New Jersey.

In 9-11 itself, Pakistan lost 345 of its own citizens, Turkey lost 115, even Yemen lost 8.

Taxes may play a part, but the Muslim colonization of certain parts of the Great Satan continues unabated!

2.7 million residents leaving the six New England states plus New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Many of those residents were young, educated workers

Meanwhile, 3.1 million foreign-born immigrants moved into the Northeast

NOW, LET'S CHANGE THE ORDER OF THOSE THOUGHTS:

More than 3.1 million foreign-born immigrants moved into the Northeast

And 2.7 million young, educated residents fled
