ATTENTION: ALL FREEPERS IN ARKANSAS

The Arkansas Free Republic community seems to be having some communication snafus and we would like to resolve them. Since last November the Arkansas chapter of Free Republic (Hog Wild FReepers) have been having regular meetings where we have enjoyed food, drink, discussion and good company. And every month we hear from somebody that they didn't know about the meeting or that if we had it somewhere else they might be able to make it, but mostly we hear nothing. I agreed to address this issue on the general forum because it seems that not everybody gets notified of the activity going on on the state page.
Typically, once you fly your flag on your home page you should be notified when there are new messages to your locale. This is where most information regarding meetings is discussed and posted. Some of our regulars have even said that they do NOT receive these notifications. On the Arkansas page there is a link you can click on to NOT be notified. I am guessing that if it is set that way currently that the link should read "click here to receive notification of new messages in this locale," or something to that effect. We make an effort monthly to contact via FReepmail all Arkansas FReepers whose names are listed on the Arkansas page and for those of you for whom we have an email address, we attempt to notify you via email.
We have an election coming up in November as you know and would like to have as many of you as possible involved in toppling liberal corruption in the state and getting more conservatives installed in office. I know there are some of you who are very well-versed in Arkansas politics just from reading some of y'all's posts and I'm sure you have something of value to offer.
What I would like to see on this thread is some feedback, both from those who have been attending the meetings and those who haven't yet. For those of you in northern Arkansas, we have been talking about holding some of the meetings up that way if there is enough interest as well as combining the occasional meeting with those of chapters in adjacent locales. But we need your input and suggestions.
For those of you who have not, up to this point, been notified of messages at your locale, here is the link to the page:

If you do not currently have your location set and your flag flying on your home page, I encourage you to do so. There is also a link on the Arkansas page for setting your location.

"If we have a meeting in Fort Smith, we might want to inform the Oklahoma people" Great idea Kenny. I think we might be looking at doing this in September. Can we ping the Oklahoma FReepers to this thread?
To: missanne
Would Fort Smith in September work for you?

I realize that many of you are probably in the western part of the state and that perhaps this would be too long a trip for you, but it was suggested that if we have our September meeting of the Arkansas FReepers in Fort Smith that we might want to extend an invitation to y'all to join us. Whaddaya think?
To: sweetliberty
Thanks for the ping, but I am due with our second child (a baby boy, Steven) September 9th! Too bad, because Ft. Smith wouldn't be that bad of a drive for me and I would love to meet some Freepers face to face!

Always like to hear about new FReepers! Congratulations! If the meeting goes well, I am sure there will be others. Keep us posted on the baby FReeper.

Okie bump........Meeting in Ft. Smith might be doable. Has been ever so hard to organize a Tulsa area Okie Freeper meeting. There was some talk of a BBQ....back in the spring. Kinda fell through.....People are busy, it's been hotter than hell's sauna, and so forth, and so on.
Please keep us informed......Thanks much
Best FRegards

I would like to come to some Freeper meetings, and since most of them are held somewhere around Little Rock, they are close enough, but it seems that the Freeper meetings always fall on the same weekend that I have National Guard duty.
To: JavaTheHutt
Do you always have National Guard duty on the 2nd Saturday of the month?
To: sweetliberty
usually, yes.

At the meeting tonight we discussed having the September meeting in Ft Smith. Can we keep this thread bumped and try to round up some NW Arkansas FReepers for this one? We'd like to be able to get a commitment from people who would like to attend. And we would love to have you bring a friend. The more the better. There is a lot to be done before the election.
Anybody up there got a good suggestion for a place to meet. We generally go for an eating establishment with a back room that we can reserve.
To: sweetliberty
I'd like you to have a joint meeting with two other conservative groups, the Coalition of Concerned Christians and the Constitution Party of Arkansas.
The CCC already has a space rented. Here are the particulars..
Next Meeting:
Where: Upstairs Community Room (next to Foot Locker on the 2nd floor of University Mall, corner Univ. Ave. and Markham, Little Rock
When: September 15th, Sunday, 2:15-4:15 PM
If conservatives stay splintered, we can't have much impact. We can't count on the liberal media to herd us together- who would ever listen to Al Sharpton if they did not put him on TV all the time- we have to find each other an rendevous on our own initiative.

We also addressed that at the meeting last night and we are interested in attending, but we also do not want to dilute who we are and will continue to have FR chapter meetings. Bobbie thought that you would want to come to the meeting in Ft. Smith. That might also be a good time to address the issue.

Good morning! Did you see the "anti-Freeper" thread? parsy wiping the sleep from his eyes.

I don't think so. Got a link?
To: sweetliberty
Please include me in with those who favor Ft. Smith for the site of a September meeting. I have to say I am new to Arkansas took my hubby two years to get me out of Florida and now feel I have come home! I'm anxious to meet like minded Arkansas freepers.
