I listened to him then and even saw him perform it. I never made the connection to Reagan!
Guess I did MISS it,
"Well ain't your President good to you
Knocked 'em dead in Libya, Grenada too
Now he's taking his show a little further down the line
Well, 'tween me and him people, you're gonna get along just fine.
That's alright though, I wasn't thrilled about Libya, Grenada, or the Iran Contra deal anyway!
Why? From all I can gather he is a leftist, possibly communist, singer. What is it about him that you like?
HOpefully you are right. He needs to be punished for this song!
You've just got to be a DU troll, nobody can be this idiotic accidentally. Have you heard the song in question? Have you even read the lyrics? I know I haven't, and I've heard everything the man has ever recorded.
Either go back to DU or quit drinking and posting.
"He (Steve Earle) won't be able to make the October 9 Poor People's Summit because of a prior engagement to appear at a benefit for the Vietnam Veterans, but he adamantly promised that he would not miss the next summit."
Does this answer your question about earle?
I never had any questions about Earle. I've known for years that his political leanings were left, so what. That didn't stop the man from being a supremely gifted singer and songwriter, despite being kept off of FM radio for most of his career. (Too rock for the country stations and vice versa)
If I limited my musical listening to only people who are right of the political spectrum, I'd have a pretty small music library.
Bad move for his career unless he can grow breasts and marry Ted Turner.
"VVAF - Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation is dedicated to achieving global security through programs that not only reduce the worldwide threat posed by war and conflict but also promote justice and freedom."
An honorable goal if not an attainable one.
You called that one!
Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, (Early) Bruce Springstein, Neil Young, just to name a few!
I'm not throwing those CD's out either!
Bad move for his career unless he can grow breasts and marry Ted Turner.
Sadly, I'd say you're right. Steve has always been extremely talented, but also extremely self-destructive. I really hate to see it, because he has always been one of my favorite artists.
If it's proven that we did violate someone's human rights then good for Earle to stand up for them.
I have a problem with our support of several countries that do violate their citizen's human rights:
China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, El Salvador, Kosovo, Bosnia, ETC...
