There's got to be a special place in hell for these people supporting bombing women and children with this new improved agent orange. Got a friend with 4 disks in his back ate up from it and my father in law died from exposure to it in Nam, the docs say there are thousands more. We have no right to do this, use our borders.

Despite spending billions of dollars...the United States is losing ground in the South American drug war.

Maybe we should redirect these resources towards a war we can WIN... terrorism comes to mind.

While Bolivia and Peru cut their coca leaf crops sharply beginning in the mid-90s, Colombia's farmers picked up the slack...

The law of supply and demand at work. Economic principle is pretty dependable.

I see. You thought they were serious about stopping drugs. Well, now you know.

Geez, isn't the futility of going after the supply side evident? Stop it in one area, and it's going to sprout up elsewhere.

Now it looks like our policies squeezing a couple of countries moved it all into the rugged columbian terrain - and when the pressure lets up in Peru and Bolivia, now we have a flood of cocaine.

The only way to reduce coca production is to reduce the demand for it.

Supply meets demand.

A drug warrior has to have no grasp of economics. If you were a poor 3rd world farmer trying to feed your family what would you grow?
