Yet another gun control poll needs a Freepin!
ncec.org ^

Posted on 07/18/2002 4:37:40 PM PDT by RogueIsland

Each year, thousands of firearms are bought illegally because background checks from the Brady Bill are not required at gun shows. With which of the following do you agree?

A. Congress should close the loophole to keep more guns out of the hands of criminals.

B. Currently our communities and schools are not safe. It is time to create a national licensing and gun registration system.

C. Both A and B. Approximately 10,000 people are murdered with firearms each year. Something has to be done.

D. None of the above. Any impediment to gun ownership is a violation of Second Amendment rights regardless of other benefits.

Still too many nadless wonders in that poll. We need to get this one above 90%. Yeah, it's meaningless statistically, but I love it when Grabbers' polls are crushed soundly by the pro-freedom forces. I like to imagine the temper tantrum...

Update: 79.83% for D (doesn't look like this outfit has a whole lot of supporters, since they obviously didn't want D to win). C'mon freepers, a couple more votes and we'll hit 80%!

The poll question isn't even true. It says that guns bought without a background check at gun shows are purchased illegally. This is untrue, if they are bought from a non FFL. It is perfectly legal.

The question means that individuals that can not legally posses firearms are purchasing them at gun shows from private (non FFL)sellers without the background check that is required of licensed gun dealers.

D'oh. Okay, now I get it. Bad wording though. It should have said "Each year, thousands of firearms are bought by people who cannot legally possess firearms because background checks from the Brady Bill are not required at gun shows."

You quoted the poll wrong. It said:
Each year, horrible black firearms with pointy sharp edges kill little kittens and roly-poly puppies and newborn babies and shoot lovely flowers to death. Guns are evil. You want all guns to be banned, right?

A. Congress should ban ALL METAL because guns are made out of metal and if we let any metal circulate whatsoever, someone is bound to make a gun out of it someday.

B. Guns are not safe. They are evil and black and horrible. If I could, I would rip the heart out of every gun owner and show it to him or her, still beating, while they died.

C. Both A and B. Guns are so awful! They have sharp edges and shoot those horrible evil babykilling bullets and I have personally witnessed over 450 trillion murders by guns in a single day! Because they are EVIL!

D. Both A and B and C. (Raises his hands above his head, runs in a circle, and screams like a little girl) EEEEK. EEEEK. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!

That's more like it. It more accurately captures the essence and completely unbiased and totally neutral nature of this fine, well-worded, balanced poll.

. It says that guns bought without a background check at gun shows are purchased illegally. This is untrue,

It also implies that background checks aren't required at gun show, which they are, if the seller is a FFL holder, just as they would be at his storefront shop. The FFLs make up the vast majority of sellers and conduct an even larger majority of the sales at gun shows.

Once again the gun grabber lie. No surprise if their mouths were moving or their finger typing. Brady checks ARE required at gunshows, just not if the seller is not a FFL holder, as most are. This of course has nothing to do with gun shows. Non FFLs don't have to conduct the checks, in fact they can't, regardless of where the sale takes place, and FFL holders must conduct the checks, again regardless of where the sale takes place. It's part of the price of the "privelege" of buying guns acrross state lines. The "Commerce Clause hook" if you will. (Not that the commerce clause trumps the 2nd amendment, it does not, if for no other reason that the 2nd is an amendment, which came somewhat after the basic Consitution which contains the interstate commerce clause. Congress can regulate interstate commece, but not in such a way as to infringe upon the right of the people to KBA)
