WASHINGTON - The city coroner said he believes that Chandra Levy may have been strangled, although he does not have conclusive evidence to rule it as the cause of death.

Levy's skeletal remains, discovered May 22 in Rock Creek Park, showed damage to her hyoid, a small U-shaped bone in the upper neck, but it was not broken, said Chief Medical Examiner Jonathan Arden. Damage to the hyoid bone, usually a fracture, is a key clue in ruling that death was caused by strangulation.

They suspect that Levy was sexually assaulted, because her leggings were discovered turned inside out, with each leg knotted.

She was murdered in the park. She was probably dragged or carried to the remote location after she was strangled to death. The murderer possibly even used her jogging pants to assist him in dragging the body to its final resting place.

and the article would have just as much real meaning,what a stoopid news release this is,just find out how she died THEN tell us,otherwise shuddup and work the case.There isn't anything in this release that could be used to flush out the killer,so it has no news value.

Yes, of course. I do not believe it would be possible to have got Chandra, while alive, to come to this location. She was abducted directly from her residence, and brought here dead, the question is more whether such bringing was immediate, or many weeks or months later.

It is very hard to think that this location was remote enough that she would not have been found in a matter of days, during the warm or mild-weather parts of the year.

This case has been put in the dead cases file basically. A perfect example is the grand jury. They have questioned Mike Lynch, who runs the Modesto office for Condit, but haven't called Mike Dayton, the guy who went on the watch box dumping trip, vouched for Condit's whereabouts part of the day on May 1st, and set him up with Joleen Argentini. Why is that? Dayton knows for a fact if Condit vanished part of the crucial day better than any other player in this saga other than Condit, yet he is not called. This is just ludicrous.

You know what they say in Politics " We Protect Our Own". 2 recent classic examples of this are, spineless Trent Lott only allowing 1 day to review the evidence ("You're not going to dump this on our lap" he said to David Shippers) against #42 in that Washington building and the Senate's Healthy Welcome of Shrillary when she won.It's because they all do it.(to some extent)I know that using a broad paintbrush, but you get my point.She's one of them now.Unbelievable,and someday,the city of N.Y. and all of America will regret ever allowing that to happen.This is even worse than the Foster case, because we know the gun in V.F.'s hand(which is laughable by the way) was made of several different guns.But that doesn't matter of course.<=======sarcasm

I think Fred is referring to how Congress protects its own and how the D.C. police, whose pay is approved by Congress, follows its orders. I'd like to know what happened that that policy didn't apply to Trafficant (or to Nixon some years ago, for that matter.) Which politicians don't get protected?
