I must admit that I have been bitterly disappointed what passes for Republican conservatism these days.
To: DoughtyOne
It's completely insane. Many are talking about social security, prescription drugs, medicare, education funding, etc.
They're relatively voiceless on immigration, abortion, the UN, the EU, affirmative action, the overabundance of social programs, foreign aid, sex education (should be opposed), government waste, free trade (should be opposed), the ESA, the false doctrine of seperation of church and state, obscenity clauses (when was the last time you heard them bring that up), and increasingly so on taxes.
It is pathetic. A conservative party that avoids the above issues cannot be said to be conservative.
To: FreedomFriend
What about the Stassi"eske" plan to turn neighbors against neighbors? If Mr "X" comes up with a plan for wives to report on husbands this crew will praise him from the mountain tops. Shame...
To: DoughtyOne
Is that the "new world order" plan of which neighbors can spy on their neighbors for the government?
To: DoughtyOne
The thing, though, is that I know the 20-30 steps that our country needs to take to turn around the dire situation. However, there are so many nonsensical people, that the overwhelming amount of bickering would probably prohibit it. The press would slander anyone who wants real reform. Look what happened to Pat Buchanan. I'm of the opinion that the press is in the hands of the government, as they have control of them through various agencies.
To: FreedomFriend
Yep, too much leftist media and, liberals and special interest former conservatives or "RINO"s to contend with. Oh well.
To: DoughtyOne
Hey, DoughtyOne, that doesn't mean that we should give up. You've got to fight for this country. It's time that people woke up to what's going on. As I see it, our politicians are NOT working for America. They're working for socialist policies, anti-Constitutional programs, votes, money, and least but not least, a world agenda.
To: FreedomFriend
That should read "last but not least".
To: FITZ
Yep, but the first influx of communist/socialists came in the 1850s when the failed '48 revolutionaries came over. Lincoln's army had a lot of them.

Look what happened to Pat Buchanan. Sorry, but as much as I love him, Pat hanged himself. He seems never to have learned that while stirring up controversy is great journalism, it is poor politics.
To: CecilRhodesGhost; willyone
Since when does wanting to control immigration in the name of national security and economic stability quailfy as "isolationism"? Willyone is right...we're not a nation of immigrants anymore, and anyone who says we are is either an uninformed, non-thinking dumba**, or an open-borders Commie who wants to push his PC "we are the world" BS off on the uninformed, non-thinking dumba** majority in this nation. Either that or they're a Libertarian, which is pretty much why I left the party.

Bump... And this article will be ignored for now. But I am confident, that it's only a matter of time until no one will be able to simply ignore this issue. It will be interesting in the future, to watch how the government reacts, as this issue becomes more volatile by the day.
To: Twodees
I'd be more impressed if it weren't for the fact that 99% of the "closed borders" crowd is only concerned with closing the border with Mexico. Apparently the thousands of Europeans who sneak in here every year and compete directly for middle class jobs aren't as abhorrent as the Mexicans who mostly don't.
The same crap, about "losing our culture", was bandied about when the Irish and the Italians immigrated in large numbers. It never happened, if you haven't noticed.

We are being deliberately destroyed as a nation by elite open-border Quisling traitors.
