Israel calls it 'an act of terrorism'
Was LAX gunman trying to kill Peres granddaughter?

Hesham Mohamed Hadayet

LOS ANGELES -- Israel calls the shooting at Los Angeles International Airport a terrorist event but U.S. investigators say they are unsure.

Egypitan limousine driver Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, 41, began shooting people in front of the El Al airline ticket counter yesterday. A security guard shot and killed Hadayet. A drivers licence found by police listed his birthday as July 4, 1961, as well as a second birthdate.

Los Angeles Police and the F.B.I. are searching for evidence to determine whether the act was terrorist connected, or just an act of violence. Israeli officials say the daughter of Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres was in the airport at the time. They believe the gunman was attempting to locate her when he was frustrated by an El Al ticket agent. U.S. officials would not comment on the claim.

El Al ticket agent Victoria Hen, 25, and Yaakov Aminov, 46, a jeweler and father of eight, were shot and killed before an El Al guards shot Hadayet. Two security guards and a woman were wounded, and another woman suffered heart problems. Aminov was in the airport to drop off a friend for a flight.

F.B.I. spokesman Matt McLaughlin told reporters that terrorism is not being ruled out, "but there's nothing to indicate terrorism at this point."

Hadayet, who had a California gun permit, was carrying a Glock 45-caliber semiautomatic handgun along with an unidentified 9 mm handgun, as well as a 6-inch knife. In addition he had extra magazines with more ammunition for both guns -- indicating the attack was thought out and planned in advance.

Dr. David Parkus, a trauma surgeon from Texas was nearby when the shooting began, according to an Associated Press report.

He said he saw one security guard wrestling with Hadayet, then a second guard shot him. Parkus said one guard had injuries to his head and was cut by a knife on the right arm. The second guard was cut on the lower back and the left thigh, and also had a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

Parkus said he held the gunman as he died, then performed CPR on two victims, according to AP.

The international terminal was evacuated after the shooting, and 35 flights were delayed affecting 10,500 passengers, according to airport officials.

A bomb squad was called in when Hadayet's car was found in the parking garage, but nothing was found.

In an announcement just day before the incident, plans were revealed that LAX would undergo a major redesign that would require all incoming passengers to go through security screening at a remote site before taking trains to the terminals. The changes will cost $9.6 billion to install and implement.

LAX was the intended target of terrorist Ahmed Ressam who was captured on Dec. 14, 1999 trying to cross from Canada into the U.S. with a car full of explosives.

Why have no media reported that Peres granddaughter was in the area?

It was reported, but no one (up until now) had suggested it was an assassination attempt on her.

AND:

Hadayet, who had a California gun permit,

Why can a noncitizen have a Gun Permit when ordinary citizens cannot!

So any terrorists will attack the crowds there. This, despite serious competition, is perhaps the dumbest way to spend $10B that I have every seen.

Look, folks, by definition anywhere you put a security checkpoint you will have a line of people waiting to be checked through. All moving the checkpoint will do is protect the building. While perhaps a good idea, I doubt it's worth $10B.

So... let's see... you try to kill the granddaughter of the only friend you have in the Israeli government. Peres is the one who brought back Arafat overcoming Rabin's strong misgivings... Even now, Peres is the one who does all he can to thwart Sharon's responses. Yet, by killing his granddaughter you risk alienating the very one who is carrying your water.

Proof: When the Mayor of Jerusalem was asked would there be retaliation for the French Hill suicide bombing he said... "it depends on who carries the day. Peres - no. Sharon, yes."

How long will it take for the world to wake up and realize that peace is not the goal. Never has been the goal. Never will be the goal. Why do we still dance around the idea that the Palestinians want peace? I know the answer, but sometimes the obtuseness of the world really gets my goat.

Why can a noncitizen have a Gun Permit when ordinary citizens cannot?!

Was it a concealed-carry or just a permit to own? Most everyone can get a permit to own, but only those who show need can get a concealed-carry.

That sure puts it in a different light! Bresnahan's a good guy- I have spoken with him a time or two years ago regarding the clintons (!)-- and I'd certainly take him seriously.

Well , I hesitated to post this, afraid I would get accussed of supplying tinfoil material.

But when I saw the gun permit I thought that was worthy of putting up the article. I had not seen that before!

Hadayet, who had a California gun permit, was carrying a Glock 45-caliber semiautomatic handgun along with an unidentified 9 mm handgun, as well as a 6-inch knife.

This doesn't make sense. There are no such things as state issued gun permits in California. Concealed weapon permits are city police or county sheriff issued. While most guns are registered in California, there wasn't a "permit" to own per se when I last resided there.

I believe it... Arab thinking surely tilts to the left. It's kind of like... "we are not above cutting off our noses to spite our faces, and when we do, we won't be responsible for the consequences of that act."

My word!

"As an Arab, he ought to know if you want to maximize your kill you dont singlehandedly go to the El-Al ticket counter during a week of high alert. DUH?"

Maybe he wasn't seeking to maximise the body count but eliminate a specific target. Assassination.

Now why would our F.B.I. cover up the terrorist attack at LAX on July 4th, 2002? ^

The wife has a new car, the kids education at the finest islamic universities is being funded by the Saudis, and his praises are being sung to the high heavens by the twisted mullahs.

Sure this whole case is circumstantial, but there's a lot of circumstances.

Of course, if he really wanted a high body count, any US carrier airline counter would have yielded up a bloodier bounty, including probably a large number of jewish people as well. But he went to ELAl.

Pere's daughter there is one hell of a coincidence too.
