12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

The Government has its' responsibilities as stated in the Constitution, and the people have theirs (as stated in their beliefs, morality or Biblical responsiblities).

You and RightWhale are both wrong.
Enron was in the sale of electric power generation. They sold the production results of power generation companies. Power generation has nothing to do with the oil business.
Haliburton is in the oil exploration and production business. That is drilling oil wells and then getting the oil out of the ground and to the refineries.
However, most news reports conveniently state that Enron and Haliburton are both in the "energy business." I suppose you could say that this is accurate if you would also lump food into this equation because humans get energy from eating it.
I was amazed to see all of the strutting senators talking about Enron while including W's connection to "big oil" in their comments. I don't know about you, but I think that people who do that would lie to me if they had a chance. </sarcasm>

Yes or no or true or false.
That's four answers you've got to pick from. All you have to do is pick one.

That statement that I made to you yesterday was in jest. I don't post articles because of the responsibility of staying with the thread. In replying, one can come and go as the telephone and other duties allow/demand.
Actually, I'm a heathen.

Dictionary.com and the Encyclopedia just hate people. They don't really know the meaning of socialism. ;-)

I understand.

This doesn't mean that I'm not willing to argue with you.

Did you read what I wrote? It is not the government's job, it's the people's job to take care of their fellow citizens.

Hey, Cartoon Boy, what was that you were saying yesterday about people needing to get off the computer, go outside, and get some air?

Wrong. Halliburton is in the oil services business. Like I said they are a nuts and bolts business, not in the production or sale of energy, they cannot be compared to Enron, they're a different animal.

You can't argue with socialists. Now gimmie my check so I can get my medicine.

Do you honestly believe that a country as rich as this one shouldn't use all the talent and resources we have to help people who cannot help themselves?
If you do, better you than me. If it helps you to call me a socialist to justify your mean-spirited views, go right ahead.

Actually, I liken her stated position on healthcare to that of someone that finds something that obviously belongs to someone else...they look around and then think to themself, "Well, it's there, if I don't take it someone else will and I'll be the better for it". Now THAT shows the true motivation of the heart.

Isn't it amazing?

They are trying to change the subject again. Cartoon-boy is lost if he can't insult someone while he pretends to post meaningful comments.

Do you honestly believe that a country as rich as this one shouldn't use all the talent and resources we have to help people who cannot help themselves?I believe we should. I just don't believe the government is the optimal way to do it, as you seem to believe.
If it helps you to call me a socialist to justify your mean-spirited views, go right ahead.
Mean-spirited....who else uses buzz words like that....oh yeah, now I remember. The Repubs were accused of wanting to starve children and cut out the school lunch program. That's a Dem tactic. Hey, you say mean-spirited, I say strict constructionist. Whatever floats your boat.

Around these here parts (the Northwoods), we think of it as the "ice floe" concept. A member of the community gets too sick, we just push them out on an ice floe and say good-bye. Of course, we have a bit of trouble doing that ice floe thing once summer comes, but it's a good concept when it's cold.
