12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

That doesn't surprise me a bit that Cheney was involved in this "slip up" accounting measure. Now he's just got to answer to it. And that ought to get interesting.

I don't think I pinged you to comment on any of it. Unless it was last night.

Getting a little crude in your "choice of language" aren't you? It's not becoming in a young girl. JMHO.

It sure will get interesting. Better hope Mr. Klayman has his finances in order. He's about to get creamed.

Can you explain to us what you find deficient in the accounting?

I know, but I've sworn my hairdresser to secrecy.

Some day I hope to be as fortunate as Iwo. Sure seems like a nice place to live. Ovaltine, Viagra...

And the meds are hardly ever late.

Yes, I do agree. But, the Court is to treat Klayman's claims as neutral and allow for Discovery to take place. Then we'll see what's up.

Flame war? I thought everybody has been pretty civil the past couple of nights.

If you venture out past the Larry posts, you'd find that the heated debate goes on all over FR.

The Israel threads, the religion threads, the I hate Bush/I love Bush threads, the there's been an explosion oh no I hope nobody died while others are cracking jokes threads.

You have a blind spot when it comes to Larry.

It's called disagreement. It happens. Or at least it does in the real world.

Cheney had signed off his name on some checks and other documents as far back as 1998 knowing that these amounted figures were unreported to others outside the company that had invested in the company. Not only that but he was given low loan rates that nobody from the outside investing would have knowledge of.

Really, I didn't know we'd gotten through the discovery phase yet.

Yet you've somehow been made privy to all of the facts, judged them on their merit, brought it all to trial, and come to the conclusion that there was, in fact, a "slip up" and Cheney was involved.

It "doesn't surprise me a bit"...

Is it just me, or is this statement on the verge of incoherent? I'm a little tired tonight.

goldilucky, if I assumed you had documentation for these allegations, would I be doing what the wags say you do when you assume?
