Halliburton Responds to Larry Klayman's Supersillyous Suit(My Title)
CBS Market Watch "Big Charts" Web Site ^ | 7/10/2002 | MarketWatch.com

Posted on 07/10/2002 11:04:03 AM PDT by SierraWasp

12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

..what do you think of Klaymamn saying that Cheney will be impeached over this

BTW, the only logical answer to the question that I can come up with is, "Wow, old Lar must feel he has some strong evidence" combined with "but you never seem to bring a case to fruition Larry".

If you all would stop looking down your noses from some imaginary lofty height of superiority, you might just see that not everyone "jumps the gun" on judging things. Some of us like to see things play out before we slam someone with harsh denounciation and judgment.

Are you aware of the personal information she has given out about herself while she's bragging and otherwise engaging in puffery? I haven't been on every thread or read every post of hers here at FR, obviously, but I can tell you that, on the threads I've seen, she is constantly volunteering personal information. And, if she is naive enough to give it out, then perhaps those of you (and I'm not being snide here) who care so much about her, should contact her by Freep mail and counsel her instead of rapping other Freepers on the knuckles for being fed-up with her. [Example: the thong-thing-- She volunteered the info that she wore such personal garb. No one asked her! Someone made a derrogatory remark about thong-wearers, and, apparently FIJC thought that she could vindicate thong-wearing by telling us that she did-- in more than one post. Who cared? Who wanted to know? She's an exhibitionist.

It seems to me that we Freepers, who, by and large, are of the belief that people are responsible for themselves and their actions, have a right to be able to post at this site without being called on the carpet by other Freepers. This is a site for adults. I think FIJC ought to act like it.

Poor, "I need attention" Clara seemed to get a chuckle over it. Feel free to use the PCB anytime.
I see that you are unable to ignore me, as you said you were going to, PCB. It's very big of you to give permission when you have no say in the matter-- or didn't you know that?

Well, PCB, we are at war. We will probably attack Iraq before Christmas. This lawsuit could have waited until after the attack commenced, couldn't it?

Of course, filing it right now helps the Rats with their efforts to take back the Senate, so full speed ahead!

You didn't answer my question. If Klayman has evidence that would warrant impeachment, why didn't we hear it? Impeachment has a different standard from a court of law, so he could have announced his evidence with no problem. He didn't, because he has none.

So, PCB, I think your response is a bit lame. Unlesss you think we should just file accusatory lawsuits against anyone we disagree with. If that is your policy, you had best be hiring a lawyer.

". Some of us like to see things play out before we slam someone with harsh denounciation and judgment."

Oh, really? Could you tell me how those of you who dislike Bush gave him the benefit of the doubt? Did you wait until the entire picture unfolded before you slammed him as not supporting Israel? How about during the China plane incident..did you wait to see what happened? Did you wait until all facts were available on the reasons for the steel tariff or CFR before attacking? How about stem cell...anyone willing to give him the benefit of the doubt?

Hypocrite.

First, we don't suspend the legal system or disallow lawsuit filings during wartime.

The fact is you've pre-judged Larry's case, and that's fine you can do that. But don't sit and ridicule people that want to see the facts played out in the courtroom before passing judgment.

Impeachment is nothing but the political means for Congress to purge one of their own. Larry isn't in Congress, he just feels that the case rises to the level of impeachment, which it probably doesn't :-) He's using words to stoke the media flames and I bet you he even knew it would stoke people like yourself to become raging mad at him.

Filing it now may help the Rats, that's open for debate. One could conclude that playing this out in July will not effect November which seems a long ways away.

No, I'm not. I would, as you suggest, counsel her against doing so. There's a lot of nuts on the internet. And even well-meaning folks can cause trouble. I remember one time when Jim R. posted a disrupter's government email address here. I believe the guy was fired after his boss was "Freeped". People sometimes do things in the heat of the moment they otherwise might not.

you guys would know what school I attend, so that won't happen.
Does this numb-brain have some ludicrous fantasy that anyone gives a royal rip what school she goes to? Self-absorbed, isn't she?

One could say narcissistic....but maybe she'll fall into the reflecting pond.

I have had disagreements with the President, especially after he broke his campaign PROMISE concerning stem cell research. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, all the way until he made his TV announcement. It was pure politics and I'm guilty of actually believing he would stand up to the media and the left and actually live up to his promise and do the right thing.

But what truly sickens me about Bush is that he unfortunately has gathered supporters that think he needs a defense team every step of his Presidency. Not just a fact-based defense team, but a rabid dog defense team.

You can think you're right about everything, but you're not.

I am well aware I am not right about everything. I thought Bush would veto CFR. He did not. I understand the political reasoning, but I don't agree with it.

Am I ready to throw him over the side? No. He has on the whole done better than I expected.

Your difficulty understanding his supporters is perhaps because you do not understand that some people are loyal to a leader. That is what I am. Disloyal people jump ship when things aren't going their way. That is not honorable, in my opinion.

Too bad for your side that Bush ispires loyalty among his people. We will defend him as long as he remains honorable.

I guess you prefer to be the type of person who changes loyalties on a whim. The name for this type of person is opportunist.

I think you've said before that you're married. Do you agree with your wife 100% of the time? Would you divorce her over one argument? If someone else criticized your wife in a mean way, even if you secretly agreed with the criticism, would you defend her, or would you help that person trash your wife?

Yeah, I know politics is not a marriage, but I think there are similarities.

And what is it called when someone changes a position on a whim, like signing the CFR or Federally Funding Fetal Stem Cell Research? No, I didn't suppose you were brave enough to face reality.

BTW, when did I "divorce" myself from Bush? I believe I've only been trying to tell "him" that our "relationship" has problems because he promised to do things around "the house" but I keep finding out he's been going out on me.

I do not agree with CFR. However, I am willing to understand that not all decisions the President will make are to my liking. I am an adult.

Regarding the stem cell controversy, I do not subscribe to the position taken by the Keyes supporters on this matter. I think the President was correct.

You might consider that anyone who runs for office wants people who will support him. You only want a candidate who does your bidding, regardless of political cost. You are doomed to always backing a losing candidate, because you are not willing to compromise.

That is your privilege. I must caution you, however, that you are therefore doomed to constant disappointment.

Can I continue using the "wife" analogy?

"She" says the problem is that now there are the kids "she" has to take care of; she loves you but she can't give you the undivided attention you got during the courtship and honeymoon, because the kids need "her" too.

When did I say I stopped supporting the President? Point me to it. I believe you tried to pull a Miss Cleo on me.

In addition to Bush, I have supported Keyes and most every other Conservative. Because of your skewed view of anyone that has voiced support of Keyes being anti-Bush, you unfortunately ignore the support I have given him. No, you'd rather gather any Keyes supporters up and put them on a Cattle Car out of the GOP.

Like the musical Oklahoma, you keep singing the song, "With Bush, it's all 'er nuttin". Well, it's not.

I want a candidate that has the integrity to follow-through on his campaign promises. Don't you?
