The Rev. Jesse Jackson slammed President Bush as "unliterate" on Monday during an address to the NAACP's 93rd annual convention, citing Bush's comparison of last month's Supreme Court decision backing school vouchers to the historic 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education desegregation case.
Jackson coined the new word, which he apparently intended as synonymous with the term "illiterate," in the midst of an attack on Bush and Attorney General John Ashcroft, whom he called "the most threatening combination in our lifetime."
The sweeping criticism is nothing new for the fading civil rights leader, who condemned Bush's political tactics during the 2000 presidential campaign as "Nazi-like" - a reference to unsubstantiated charges that Republican officials in Florida denied African-Americans the right to vote.
Jackson's latest Bush attack came on the second day of NAACP convention rhetoric insulting the president, reported the Washington Times.
On Sunday, NAACP chief Julian Bond slammed Bush as a "snake oil salesman" who was part of a "right-wing conspiracy."

"apparently" being the key word here. It sounds to me like someone is trying to cover up his blunder. I mean, he is attacking the President intending to say he is "iliterate" and says "unliterate".. this is HILARIOUS!!! ROFL
If it were only true. He's laughing all the way to the bank. Not to mention the fact that his semi-retarded son and chief hanger-on is rich from shaking down beverage distributors and other businesses. Oh, and he's in the gub'mint.
For his money, I would put on a fright wig, red rubber nose and call clinton a "pervaricator".
And certainly overrated. ;-)
who was part of a "right-wing conspiracy."
Ah yes, the great "VRWC" attack. sigh. I hope I can find my VRWC membership card.
Please Mr. Bond, If you keep up that kind of talk, you will be band from FR. I'll hit the abuse button on you. (sarcasm)
Be patient, Mr. Bush will be with you shortly with a new government program.
Well, that's certainly not disimaginable.
I'm grateful that we have black citizens like Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Condi Rice, the Rev Jesse Peterson, and even Colin "On the Other Hand" Powell. It is my sense that a strong black middle class is emerging to take their rightful place in the governing of the Nation. Black conservative leaders are having a positive impact to balance the race baiters and some of the more immature athletes. Now if we, white and black, can get a handle on out-of-wedlock birth rates and reintroduce the idea of accountability then we have a chance to pull back from the brink of cultural suicide.
Please understand that the use of the above highlighted term, could be painful to those of us who have handicapped relatives. We are blessed to have these angels from God in our midst. Thanks.
