My connection here is really slow tonight,

That's too bad. I wonder what the problem is. I think you had the problem before, right?

I had a long conversation with a guy from AT&T tonight, and he seems to think that the problem is a combination of an overloaded AT&T server and an internal configuration problem on my machine. The drivers I had for my DSL service in Canada are still on here, and they are apparently interfering somehow with my dial-up connection. I was able to remove them, but for some reason they re-install themselves every time I re-start the computer.

I've reached the point where I have to call an old friend of mine who is a network whiz to help me out.

I have a feeling the "overloaded server" has been part of the problem all along -- this guy said he wasn't going to lie to cover AT&T's butt, so I tend to think he's on to something.

We'll see -- I'll post from the office tomorrow just to say hello, and we'll see if I can at least get these Ethernet drivers off here tomorrow night.
