[history]
A strange thing often happens when the news media descend on the home of a suspect in a high-profile crime and start asking the neighbors about him. Suddenly, the suspect will seem to have been afflicted with a multiple personality disorder.

And maybe that illustrates why it's so hard in a free society to predict and prevent terrorism, organized or individual. And with all the conflicting information, I'm surprised how quickly some have jumped to the conclusion that the Administration is involved in a big coverup.

even investigators haven't definitively decided if Hedayet was a terrorist or just another selfish, violent individual who took out his own rage and frustrations on innocent strangers...except that he drove some distance and went for a specific target. One more piece of empirical datum to support racial profiling.

I guess one thing this article really points up is,... you can't really tell if the Muslim next door is
really a terrorist!
Sleepers are very good at hiding below the horizon.

"reporters often wind up getting as many different takes on the guy as there are neighbors willing to talk about him"
There is a simple explanation - people who get a chance to get their mug on TeeVee or their name in the paper will say whatever they think the reporter wants to hear.

I don't think the administration is involved in a big coverup, but I do think that someone is thinking we are stupid. I fully trust President Bush, my admiration for him is unquestionable, but please, this is clearly terrorism.
Do I think the President is covering up? NO, do I think we are not being told the truth? Oh yeah.

Who exactly isn't telling us the truth and are they lying to the President as well?
To: ladyinred
It might be that Bush wanted to take the policy that most Muslims are fine people and should be encouraged to move to the US and live among us, those already here should stay. I know he didn't want this to be a war against Islam but certain types of Muslims are trying to do just that.
