Victoria (Vicky) Chen, 25, from Los Angeles was working at the time of the shooting Thursday at the Los Angeles International Airport at the El Al ticker counter. She was hit in the chest by two bullets and died instantly.
Ya'akov Aminov, a jewelry merchant in his forties from North Hollywood came to the terminal to escort a friend - and was hit by three bullets.
The death of Aminov, a religious Jew, shocked the Jewish community in North Hollywood, and hundreds of people, most of them Israelis, visited his home to pay condolences to his family.
His brother-in-law said Friday that Aminov "did many things for the community, but stayed away from politics," and that he would be buried in Israel.
Victoria Chen was born in Rishon Letzion and raised in Be'er Sheva. Her parents, Avinoam and Rachel emigrated to Los Angeles 12 years ago. Chen also leaves behind two younger brothers.
"She was daddy's girl," her uncle said Friday. "The first time her father wasn't next to her, she caught two bullets in the chest."
Chen's family believes beyond doubt that the shooting was a politically motivated act of terror. "They will attack us any place. In Argentina, in Los Angeles, in Israel," a relative said Friday.
Well said and quite true.
Either way debate with this fellow is as worthwhile as with a DUer.
He sounds like a Communist with his complaints about western imperialism. Harrowup says anti-Semitism is so prevalent because we have an attitude problem.
What's an "attitude problem"? With your non specific, irrational charges, I think you should concentrate on your own faults instead of whining that we're all picking on the Muslims -- especially after this latest depredation at LAX.
Please try a little decency.
How very true. Both have grieving family and friends, and they most certainly have my condolences.
In Amirov's case, he has eight children, and his wife is pregnant with their ninth child. My heart breaks for her and those now-fatherless children.
I actually believed you for a few milliseconds.
Ever read about Moses and his little scuffle on the way to the promised land? Ever hear of the Crusades? The Spanish Inquisition? The Roundheads? The good people of Salem? Waco?
President Bush was simply trying to calm down irrational people such as yourself and the rest of the JDL.
Y'know, horrorup, you have not made sense before, but this is beyond the pale. One Egyptian killer?? You should read the newspapers sometime.
Whom was Bush trying to calm down? Were there Muslims being dragged out of their houses? We were the ones attacked you fool!!There was no other reason for him to say that "Islam is peace" stuff than the pc-crap that the crowd that YOU represent loves so much.
That's right: defend Bush when he acts like a demonrat--perfect.
H. Range Hutson, M.D., from the Department of Emergency Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and Deirdre Anglin, M.D., from Los Angeles County and University of Southern California Medical Center, and colleagues write that the United States has the highest homicide rate in the industrialized world and that Los Angeles County has the largest number of documented violent street gangs of any county in the U.S., with approximately 1,000 different street gangs and more than 136,000 gang members. A total of 27,302 homicides occurred in Los Angeles County from 1979 to 1994, 7,288 (26.7 percent) of which were determined by law enforcement to be gang-related.
"The proportion of all homicides occurring in Los Angeles County that were gang related increased from 18.1 percent in 1979 to 43 percent in 1994. Since 1990, street gangs have been responsible for more than one-third of all homicides in Los Angeles County," the authors write. Almost 40 percent of gang-related homicide victims were children or adolescents.
The researchers reviewed LAPD and LASD police records from 1979 to 1994 to determine trends in gang homicides and the population at greatest risk for homicide. They looked at demographic data, weapons used, drive-by shooting murders, and times and geographic areas of occurrence.
"Gang members are 60 times more likely to die of homicide than are members of the population," the authors write. "Those who live with or associate with gang members, as well as those who have no gang affiliations but live in communities with large numbers of street gangs, are at significantly increased risk of injury and death due to gang violence."
You might do a Dogpile Search on American/Islam/Peace. The first thing that comes up is this.

Where is CAIR now? They don't seem very upset that Jews were profiled by this Muslim and killed for being Jewish, but they scream bloody-murder if a Muslim is asked to remove their headgear when boarding an airplane. Hypocrits.
Una ble to answer what?
If you'd take the rocks out of your mouth and be specific I might give it a go.
That said, I listened to one of the talking heads recently and he actually had a very good idea which works with my suggestion that returning the West Bank and Gaza and ending the occupation blockade will restore some hope...he also suggested since giving the Palestinians some land back only has led to more killing....he said give it all back and then every time there is an incident, take some hefty hunk back to give the Israelis more defensive breathing room.
Victoria Chen = Victory Grace
A LOVING father and a beautiful young woman have been named as the two victims of a crazed Egyptian gunman who opened fire at Los Angeles airport.
The heartbroken families mourned their loss as the FBI launched a worldwide probe into the killer, 41-year-old Hesham Mohamed Hadayet, who also died.
"It appears he went there with the intention of killing," said FBI agent Richard Garcia.
"We are still trying to determine why he did that."
The shooting came amid heightened US security for the first Independence Day holiday since the September 11 attacks on Washington and New York.
Aiport worker Victoria Hen, 25, died after two bullets hit her in the chest at the ticket counter of the Israeli airline El Al.
She was born in Israel and had moved to the US with her parents, Avinoam and Rachel, 12 years ago.
"She was daddy's girl," her uncle told an Israeli newspaper. "The first time her father wasn't next to her, she caught two bullets in the chest."
The second victim, Yaakov Aminov, 46, was taking a friend to the airport for a trip home to Israel.
After he was shot, Aminov collapsed in the arms of his friend, said his brother-in-law, Mark Ezerzer.
The jewellery shop owner was waiting to be a father again. He and his pregnant wife Anat already had five children, aged two to nine.
Aminov migrated from Israel 13 years ago. He has an ex-wife and three other children in Israel.
The FBI said Hadayet used a .45-calibre pistol and 15cm knife in the attack.
He was also armed with a 9mm pistol and extra ammunition and magazines for the guns.
"One security guard was wrestling with him while he was shooting," an FBI spokesman said.
"The El Al security guard left the counter, fired one round at some range, then fired one or more rounds as he closed, because that man continued to fire and also had the knife with a six-inch blade in the other hand.
"While the struggle was happening, the second security guard came in after firing on the subject.
"A third bystander also joined in, trying to wrestle him to the ground.
"While they were in that position on the ground, the subject stabbed the second security guard, who fired on him three times."
Hadayet was not on any FBI watch lists.
He owned a limousine service and held a green card that allowed him to work in the US where he had lived for a decade.
FBI agent Garcia said the investigation had uncovered no anti-Israeli or anti-Jewish sentiments on Hadayet's part. His wife and two children had left last week for a trip to Egypt.
"We don't know whether or not it was a planned trip," Garcia said.
He said investigators had removed a computer from Hadayet's home, and were waiting for a warrant to see what information was on it.
Do we have sharp people looking out for our best interests, or what?!
