It is beyond contempt that the Clinton/Gore administration covered this up. At first I thought it was partly so they could demonize the right, (which of course they did)but now I see there is a possible China connection in addition to ME's, correct?

Certainly had the most corrupt administration in our nation's history responded as they should have, many lives could possibly have been saved. They must not be allowed to continue to deceive the public! Al Gore is already a candidate again! This must be revealed by the media somehow, someway.

Considering that this is coming out, I am not so sure that one can say that Bush is covering up anything can you?
I am thinking that the leaks are from the administration, and there are others that think that also. In fact, one talk show host is getting inside information from someone in the administration according to him.
We shall see, but I hope the truth does come out, that is what matters to me.

I also think -- and hope -- we're going to be hearing something soon.

The thought crossed my mind that Mueller's little meeting with the Muslim leaders last week was sort of prelude, to ward off any criticism in advance.

Probably wishful thinking, but who knows? Who knows what Bush knew, or Ashcroft, or when they knew it?

There's also been a suspicious silence lately in terms of "shouting down" all the "OKC conspiracy kooks", both from the government and the media. Don't forget that "no response" from the FBI a week or so ago. That was significant.

It will be interesting to see, if it happens.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I came to some (but not all) of the same conclusions in a story which has been posted on my Web site on Sunday. Certainly nothing here contradicts anything I've come up with.

Specifically, I also concluded that Khalid was in charge of the Manila cell, and that Padilla may be one of the John Does.

A question on sourcing, if its not confidential. (If I followed up on anything you posted here, I'd credit you and link to the thread).

Mohammed's coming to the US adds more credence to the allegations that Mohammed was in OKC and met with and was paid by Samir Khalil...

On this specifically, what's your source placing Khalid as having traveled in the US?

It seems to me that Khalid was more likely to be dispensing money than receiving it. He was known to be wealthy and to have spent money extravagently. Mohammad Khalid is a very common Arabic name and someone with that name could well have been paid without being the same guy. If there was a transaction, there must have been a specific motive for it.

Also, is there a source connecting Padilla to WISE? You don't need WISE as the linchpin of that connection; you can trace Padilla almost in a straight line to Manilla through the Benevolence International Foundation, which opened its office in Florida at the same time McVeigh was visiting.

I also trace Padilla's connection to al Qaeda proper through Khalid.

I suggest on my site that the Florida BIF operation was central to the "lily white" recruitment drive and that McVeigh was in Florida to meet with operatives connected to Manila.

If there's a smoking gun to be found, one that would make the mainstream media sit up and take notice, it would be in reliably placing a member of that cell in Florida around Feb. 1993. If you could do this in a sourced way, preferably supported by some documentation, I suspect the big guns would turn on to this story. I haven't been able to find it yet.

Murad reportedly told Philippines govt. torturers he had been to a flight school in Florida, but it's hard to back that up and confessions extracted under torture can be dubious anyway. I've found no evidence to back up this claim.

Yousef and Wali Khan are sitting in federal prison and could talk or testify on some or all of this (though perhaps not reliably).

(I don't have any sources I can especially work with on the Hussaini material, but I have seen nothing which would necessarily contradict it either.)

Khalid and Padilla are connected directly through Abu Zubaydah, the captured al Qaeda chief. According to numerous media reports, particularly AP and the LA Times, Khalid and ZUbaydah were close associates and Zubaydah is the person who implicated Khalid in the 9/11 attack.

Zubaydah was also Padilla's mentor, according to Newsweek and various others, and Zubaydah provided the information which led the federal government to arrest Padilla, according to media reports and filings by the NY lawyer trying to get Padilla sprung from military detention.

So they both were close associates of Zubaydah's and I suspect Padilla met with Khalid in Pakistan in March.

On my site I suggest that Khalid became aware of Padilla through OKC and then actually sponsored Padilla to Zubaydah.

The men were let go by the FBI after intervention and lying by Attorney General Janet Reno. The FBI 302 reports on the arrests were found in FBI agent Danny Defenbaughs Dallas office in early 2001. Defenbaugh was inspector of the OKC bombing Task Force.
