July 2, 2002 -- AS George W. Bush became president, I turned to America's best Republican political consultant, Charlie Black, for a line on our new leader. "Always remember," Black told me, "that he's his mother's son." Mother's son or father's boy? The conflict between Bush's maternal and paternal DNA seems almost to define the zigs and zags of his presidency - and the political ups and downs which they trigger.

I think Morris' explanations and examples are bunk. However, he is exactly right about Dubya. When Dubya carefully thinks an issue out and acts it is amazing how many good decisions he makes. His insticts are very good, including selecting his advisors. However, when he gets over advised, for example by the liberals from the state department, his decisions seemed cluttered.

Dick Morris presumes to speak on moral clarity and thinks anybody will take him seriously?

But when Bush lost the New Hampshire primary to Sen. John McCain and shrunk back behind the shelter of party orthodoxy to rebound in South Carolina, Huh?

Bush had South Carolina before he stepped foot on our soil. The state is known for being solidly Republican in voting for Presidents. I'd have to look up records, but I think even Georgia-boy Jimma Karter only got around 20 to 30 percent of the popular vote.

What tripe. I don't expect much from Morris, but I do expect more than this. Do you think Maureen wrote it for him?
