THE PRESIDENT: And so today, at the urging of Chief Justice William Rehnquist, I invoke a little-known executive privilege which allows me, when presented with a petition signed by 50,000 red-blooded Americans, to permanently revoke the citizenship of this detestable movie star fairy...
I might think about Austrailia myself.
Got any info on that country? I know you have to prove yourself an asset before they let you in.....could we try that here? Do they allow all immigrants in there..give them free medical, food and shelter? Do they have high taxes for the social programs?? DO they have a rotten education system and low morals? Do they hate God? Do they allow pollution in their lakes like we do? Got to be better than Europe! I hoped Bush would change this country around a little...but I have a feeling he's working on getting amnesty for the illegal mexicans.
All I can say, is that if Tom Cruise had to really work for a living instead of suffering the guilt he has from having all his money handed to him on a silver platter, he would have a completely different attitude. It's amazing what impact that requirement has on the rest of us.
They fail my litmus test. They ban guns. Law abiding citizens cannot own semi-automatic long guns. They were required to turn in any that they had, although many did not comply. It's a good litmus test about the relationship between the government and the people. If the government wants to/does control the people, gun control is usually high on their list.
I wasn't impressed during my one-week visit to the Gold Coast area. I felt less safe there than I do at home in New Jersey. The warnings to keep the windows and doors closed all night (because of the burglars that use them to rob rooms) along with complaints about rising crime and lack of police in the papers didn't help. It also didn't help that our rental car was damaged, apparently during the smash-and-grab burglary of a car parked near ours (the window was smashed to steal something -- in the parking lot of a nature park). That's the only time I've ever had that happen.
DO they have a rotten education system and low morals?
They have a significant bullying problem in schools, from what some other Americans with children who have lived there told me.
Do they allow pollution in their lakes like we do?
I don't know, but I do know that they have no problems plowing under the wetlands on the Gold Coast to put up houses, hotels, and condos. When I commented about this to a guide at a nature park, he said that they used to surf fish on the Gold Coast but there aren't many fish left because their spawning grounds have been destroyed.
Got to be better than Europe!
That's not difficult.
I'm not going to comment on the immigration and social programs. Just do some reading. It isn't a horrible place but it isn't paradise, either. Of course my experience is limited to a brief stay and what I've heard from others. I could be wrong. But what I've seen hasn't been encouraging.
