John Campbell (R) just announced on the Hugh Hewitt show that the democrats in Sacramento have pulled a fast one. Bill 1058 which has been written about on several posts originally failed. The democrats took a bill on Friday night which dealt with an unrelated subject and gutted out the language. They then inserted the exact language of 1058 and the senate passed it Friday. This (Monday) afternoon the house got the bill. The democrats had to hold a hearing and every office in the capital was available but they chose to hold the "hearings" in the smallest office in the building - the only one which had no TV cameras, no radio, no cameras, and no space for reporters or the public to attend. They then passed a vote making this bill exempt from the 3-day waiting period required by law for public input. The democrats just passed the bill in the last 45 minutes and it now goes to the governor's desk. No republicans voted for the bill in either chamber. One highlight - (Dennis?) Cardoza - the democrat running for Condit's seat voted for the bill in the central valley. He's toast.
Ordinarilly I'd agree. However, I fear that the appetite of the market for cars of high fuel consumption is what is putting money into the hands of these wacky mideast oil nations, which they then divert to terrorists which are trying to kill us. We will not have oil from another source any time soon.
No way, unless you let me retroactively substitute my other one!
Oh, and thanks for the compliment. (However, I refuse to dignify your subsequent blasphemy with a response! ;-)
It was taken over by busybodies and do gooders of all political stripes.
The experiment failed, the patient died. The only question now is how long before the next war.
Thanks for the autobiographical information.
Here's some more information: this is a free country. Your personal opinions of what do or don't "need to be" don't mean jack squat. Capisce?
Uh, Massive illegal immigration?
There I fixed it for you.
Stop the attacks by the wacko, extreme left-wing, anti SUV-nazis terrorist's on our Freedoms !!
Freedom Is Worth Fighting For !!
Molon Labe !!
Politcal correctness here is perhaps at best 10% of what it is in your fair state. The liberals in the Bay Area and LA are holding the rest of you guys hostage. The worm has turned I fear. I'm not sure Conservatives in your state have the demographics anymore. My little brother lived in Carlsbad and my cousin is a state judge in SF. I have traveled there many times and the political disintegration since the mid 80s is all too apparent.
I was quite serious in my offer which goes against the flow of many conservatives here in Nashville who despise all the LaLaLand folks who've migrated here for the entertainment industry the past decade or so.
Regards.
I don't like SUVs because they block vision. I live in the city and park on the street. I'm tired of pulling out blind and making blind turns into or across traffic because someone has his SUV parked right up on the corner. (Too big to park legally, y'know.)
I've had two friends get their front ends whacked because of this. They were doing the six-inch-at-a-time creep-out, trying to peek around an illegally parked SUV, when they got smacked. As far as I'm concerned, the SUV owner should be cited in such accidents, and be liable for the damages. I suppose we need a new offense to cover this: how about "reckless parking?"
If I were the mayor, I'd make it a police point of emphasis to ticket every SUV that is parked too close to a corner.
On a brighter note...we may prevail on the income tax thing...today. My wife and son were down there earlier today. I'm obligated otherwise and my horn is broken from the last time.
Regards!
Glad to see it is a two door. All the Best :)
Did you ever see the opening of the sit-com, "Grace Under Fire"? The star was the blue, 1965 Bonneville 4-door she was driving (and filling with gas, appropriately ;-).
I didn't care much for the show but, I would always catch the opening when I could!
Consistent Stalinism from the leftists.
