I went to our neighborhood picnic. We live in the west side of Milwaukee. Nice family neighborhood.
So we will call my neighbor hosting the party "Liberal Lou" and neighbor number two is Republican Rob.
L.L. has a bumper sticker that reads: "When Women Vote DemocRATS win." (So this makes me barf already.)
So, it's about 10:30 on Friday night and we all have had a few brewski's and are just "shootn' the shit", talking about movies,etc... Republican Rob (they are both teachers) says "Did ya hear about the case in CA about the kickball?"
Liberal Lou says "Yes, I agree with it.", "Why should kids have to go through "that", being picked last, yadda, yadda, yadda". "It's the same with baseball." "I was always picked last, it doesn't help their self-esteem.".
"We" picked on Liberal Lou for being such a wus. He basically lost the "fight". They are great parents to the only two girls in the neighborhood and they threw a great party, I thanked them for it.
At this point I see my husband and "the republican" side of the picnic ready to blow steam..... :)
The convo fizzled but my hubby "went off" when we got home talking about Liberal Lou.
I stated to my hubby that my dad demanded the best out of his little girl to: "Be the best!" NOT "Oh did you get your feelings hurt..., B.S.?" That doesn't stand in my family....
I guess we never want to hurt "our" kids' feelings.
(Be well, be strong, be safe)
Hope this makes sense......... And I don't have kids, but if I did they would be strong and kick ass!

The night of the game he was pretty upset and told my wife that he didn't want to play baseball anymore, yadda, yadda, yadda. As my wife and I were discussing it the next morning, I said to her "can you imagine there are people who actually want to shield their kids from this? How do they ever learn to deal with disappointment?" Of course, my wife responded, "They don't".
BTW, my son had me out working on his pitching the very next day. (Isn't it amazing how resilient kids are?)
Kids love it, it's the "parents" that hold them back and make them more emotional than need be.
I played first base and short stop baseball for Girl Scouts (I loved it), my dad was the coach and he wouldn't put up with any cryn'.
It's the parents that are turning these kids into emotional brats!
The genesis of most liberals.
