Now that the decision of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to ban "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance has been protested all over the landscape, perhaps we might step back and consider the broader implications of the fact that such a decision could have been made in the first place.

What the First Amendment to the Constitution says is that Congress shall make no law "respecting an establishment of religion."
Rather plain and straight forward language, don't you think?
