The events of the past 10 months have certainly provided us with a lot of evidence about the U.S. economy's enduring resilience and strength. So maybe it's time to begin recognizing this as a fundamental and unarguable fact.
Despite the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil, fears that it could happen again soon, and a string of sordid corporate scandals that have undermined investor confidence and sent stocks into a nosedive, the economy is still growing at a healthy rate. Globally, free market, center-right governments are being elected all over Europe and emerging markets are expanding faster than ever.

I liked the article. Perhaps the Administration could hold some pep rallies for the economy, but they are busy with a few things. But I'd rather have an Administration actually working on stuff rather than calling press conferences for everything under the sun. We did that for eight years.
I hope some within President Bush's administration are listening. The economy needs help - less taxes, less regulation, and highlighting for the American people what good things are done by our "corporations" and all our businesses. This is the one thing that is supposed to be our strength (as Republicans) - handling the economy, running businesses, etc. - but so far, this administration has not done what is necessary to emphasize the private sector.
I love our President. I am even a Bushbot. But if he fails to get his people active on the economy in the RIGHT way, Republicans will not only will lose many of the elections this fall - he will also lose the Presidency in 2004.
The economy is THE THING that needs to be in focus.....and it can be done. Get experts, get Steve Forbes in there, get top notch people.....and get to work. Drop the lawsuit against Microsoft - stop targeting businesses - get out in front - don't just let things "happen". I know this President can do this. I believe he will. But it needs to start now.
