Frontpage Magazine down?
http://www.frontpagemag.com ^

Posted on 07/01/2002 2:54:12 AM PDT by Commie Basher

Anyone else having trouble downloading FrontpageMag.com? Ever since their "redesign" I can almost never get it. I try several times a day, yet I only saw it twice -- early Tuesday morning, and early Saturday morning.

I'm using a 56k dialup modem. I just can't seem to get FrontpageMag to download. It takes forever, and I give up.

Am I the only one?

It's even a slow load with my cable connection. Very image intensive. Around 60 images to download.

Are you using Internet Explorer 5 or 6?

Works just fine for me. Using IE 6 on a PC with 56k dialup.

Frontpage has a feedback site HERE

I was able to leave my 56k dialup for able modem a year ago, so I'm sympathetic to the problems of slow download. Hope the link works for you.

I'm not sure what I'm using. Maybe I.E. 4 or 5, or something else.

I'm using CSi 4 (I think). It's a CompuServe program, that supposedly has I.E. seemlessly embedded in it. But it may be an I.E. variation with its own name.

I've been thinking of going cable, but (1) I keep wanting to move, and it'd be a shame to go through an installation hastle only to move a few months later, and (2) my cable provider is Adelphi, which I've had billing problems with in the past -- and that was before their financial woes -- and (3) I don't want to lose my Compuserve e-mail address.

It seems I can fairly easily download its other pages, I just can't get the frontpage of Frontpage. Ironic.

Once you move you'll definitely want to get a high speed connection, cause once you do, you will wonder how you ever managed to surf the web without it.

Well, I don't know if this will be of any help to you or not, but here is an add on for IE 5 or 6 that helps when loading webpages with lots of images.

Web Accessories for Internet Explorer 5 (works on IE 6 also). It contains Image Toggler:

"Now you can turn off images for extra speed, and turn them back on again, even more quickly and easily. Simply look for Toggle Images in the Links bar and click it."
It came in real handy before I got Road Runner cable. If you want to see an image you just right click on the image and select "Show Picture".
