Muhaned Taher, who is considered the most senior West Bank militant wanted by Israel, was assassinated Sunday evening by IDF troops in Nablus. Taher was commander of the Hamas military wing in the Hebron area.
A second Hamas member, Imad Draoza, was also killed and another was injured and arrested.
Palestinians said Taher, known as "the Engineer-4", topped Israel's most wanted list.
According to preliminary reports, the three were shot by elite IDF soldiers who surrounded his home. A security source said that they had intended to kill just Taher, but an exchange of gunfire broke out, which led to the other Palestinians being shot.
The security establishment believes that Taher, 26, played a central role in several terror attacks, in which at least 107 Israelis were killed. Among them, Taher is suspected of being responsible for the suicide bombing of an Egged bus in Jerusalem about two weeks ago in which 19 Israelis were killed.

Is is not assassination when you kill an enemy combatant and/or it's leadership. It is, simply, warfare.

Agreed. This guy was a legitimate target. Israel decided that this guy needed to go into "early retirement" and they made the right call!

Now thisis the IDF we all know and love.

Palestinians said Taher, known as "the Engineer-4", topped Israel's most wanted list. Looks like someone else just zoomed to the top of the charts--hopefully, with a bullet.

"Assissinated???"
This guy was their military commander! He is directly responsible for hundreds of Isreali deaths.
Targets do not get more legitimate than this.

Assassinated? This is from the "About Us" section of the source of that article:
Ha'aretz is an independent daily newspaper with a broadly liberal outlook both on domestic issues and on international affairs
I would call that terrorist "killed" in my book, not assassinated. Good riddance either way.

Assassinated?
Wouldn't "executed" (with cause) be a lot more descriptive?
I suppose even the Israel press can't be immune to the weaknesses of PC.
If the cause of the killing is "merely" political, "assassination" would be appropriate.

Now this is an "early retirement" program we can all get on board with.

I agree, this wasn't done out of greed or hate. This Hamas skunk has killed many Israeli civilians in atrocities that, sadly, a large majority of the mainstream media continues to rationalize and minimize.

How many point is this one worth? I don't know, but I would like to buy the Israeli special forces guys a few beers.
