LOS ANGELES (AP) - A former FBI informant is suing the federal agency, claiming it abandoned him after he infiltrated a violent drug cartel in Mexico.

Avery "Skip" Ensley, 56, alleges the FBI failed to pay more than $1 million he had been promised from seized assets linked to the investigation into the Arrellano Felix syndicate. He sued in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Friday.

He dealt with the devil, and the devil cheated him; how shocking. Who would trust a government which robs (through "asset forfeiture") its citizens without due process? His commissions from the plunder are equally ill-gotten gains...

10 percent of all assets seized is SOP for the Feds. 10% of the value of the drugs seized is not. Usually a paid snitch or mercenary also negotiates a reward in addition to the 10% commission on asset seizures. In Miami ten years ago, some money laundering cases pursued by US Customs resulted in 10 million dollar plus rewards and commissions for the paid snitch. It's a nasty business, many of these snitches come to bad ends.

I don't know what this guy is complaining about, it he wanted thr really big bucks, he should have JOINED the FBI and then fudged numbers for his bonuses. Or, like at least one, worked for the other side.

As an imformant, he is lucky, he is still alive. Think of the poor guy was got into McVeigh's cell and informed there. McVeigh and Nichols kept their mouths shut but I bet the FBI wound up "terminating" that informant.

"One of the reasons I'm going forward with this thing is that I want other people to know the FBI does not take care of its people," Ensley said. "My experience is that they will put anybody at risk for their own benefit."

This MO applies to the FBI across the broad spectrum of criminal dealings.
