No New Taxes - The Tax Revolt Rally
Sacramento, California June 29, 2002
The Day in a Pictorial Essay

The GWB Group, FreeRepublic Bob News.com and Patriotwatch are teamed up in this photo while collecting e-mail
addresses for future networking opportunities. Left to right, Bob Conner, Mark Mata and his son, Chris Darrow.

Republican Assemblymember Dave Cox was a welcome addition to the host of outstanding speakers.

The media was well represented, both in local television news crews and the national feed to AM Talk Radio Stations

Radio Talk show host John Stoos was one of the event's organizers and stirred the crowd with Talk Revolt Talk.

The trilogy speaks pretty clearly to the message of the day for the Legislature that is in session this weekend trying to
pass a budget and the Governor who's looking for more campaign fund raising opportunities. No takers here!!

I know you mean well and I'm not trying to be critical, but this is NOT a tax revolt.

A tax revolt is when you tell them to get F###ed because you're not paying your taxes anymore, letting them steal from you without representation.

I hate to break this to you by they don't give 2 craps about your signs.

I do commend your activism and you taking the time to raise awareness though, as it does help to some degree.

I hope you don't take this post the wrong way.

Illegitmi Non-Carborundum!

Absolutely ignore any and all negativity and hit 'em again harder, HARDER!!!

There's no other way to get through to those Demonicrat blockheads! You have to take to the Crapitol streets in defiance!!!

Depending on candidates alone won't do it! Depending on letting George do it, won't either.

Only a strong demonstration of solidarity by us paycheck to paycheck slaves will do it!!!

I just heard on the radio that the state Senate passed a budget because one Republican joined all the Democrats. I don't know which one, or what taxes are included. Now the budget goes to the Assembly.

Nice pictures. You guys looked great, and your anti-tax and the Simon signs were much better than those of the few Davis supporters.

Senator Dick Montieth was afraid this RHINO would do it. This person is termed out, so hence the vote. He or she was waffling on it, and I guess as you pointed out in this post, the vote went in favor of "Dump Davis"..... Lets put pressure on the Assembly. But as again I was told, there is weakness there too. I had a nice conversation with the Senator today. He is sticking to his guns in not letting Davis have his way. So much the citizens are not aware of the corruption that has taken place since Davis and the over powering Democrats took majority vote in Sacramento. Heads up to the people. The books are really cooked!....Vote them out... Get Simon in!

great pics. It was a great event. I figured a few hundred people there. And being back to rally at the Capitol since GW1, wow, it brought back memories... The event was K.I.S.S..... And more to come as Ted Costa et el stated, one rally is not enough to stop runaway taxation... Lets keep it up. Tom McClintock, he was great! Vote for him freepers as your next Ca Controller..... Mark Williams of KFBK was great, link to KFBK, and so was Eric Hogue of KXTZlink to KTKZ

Well Montieth has my vote for Congress! We don't need a Condit clone serving the 18th.

I hope the voters throughout the state will remember that a DEM vote for office holder from assembly up through governor equals higher taxes and more spending.

I was amazed on how easy it was to talk to Mr Montieth. He is a real businessman. Talks to ya in that manner too. Nice! I asked him all kinds of questions, and he seemed very comfortable in answering all the ones I asked. He knew I knew the scoop. I respected that, and I am sure he too. He sounded very sincere in his conversations, and told me some stuff, the media would love to slam.....lol.. But it is between he and I. And the other gentleman who joined in the conversation. He has my vote. Get Cardoza out!!!

Senator Maurice Johannessen ("Republican") voted for the Democrat budget... and screwed us all. Nice to have the safety of term limits.

I'm wondering if this was the Dem budget which raises the vehicle license fee on us all?

And all because they simply HAVE TO spend our money! Forget cutting spending, just raise taxes!!!!!

Senator Maurice Johannessen of Redding is the turn coat. That's hard for me to say, given our respect for and defense of the Verterans in our country and he being a Viet Nam era vet. But this is not the first time he's put himself in the spotlight by stabbing his own in the back. He's a little like Dr. Newdow, his desire to have his mug in the news without regard for the consequences for his family.

To the lone critic of our protest: if the 5,000 plus patriots of November 2000 had gotten off their couches and made a showing today, with a rope for Johannessen, maybe he'd have defeated the vote in the Senate. It's easy to talk or post in chat rooms... it quite another thing to put shoe leather to the challenge. I value the later not the former.

Lawmakers and Protesters Address Tax Increases at Capitol
Lawmakers are spending the weekend debating the budget bill at the State Capitol. It appears the new budget will include a tax hike of some kind.

Demonstrators were at the Capitol, too. They were trying to head off a tax increase with a protest.

Here's a link to some local news coverage including the video feed.

I'm pleased that a number of our fellow Freepers supported the action today... if you didn't get by our table to sign up for the networking we plan to continue, PLEASE, drom me FreepMail and I'll add you to the list server.

I don't know ... what taxes are included. Now the budget goes to the Assembly.

In case you haven't heard, the Senate took AB 1058 -- the one with the possible SUV tax, 50-cent-a-gallon gas tax increase and 2-cents-per-mile-driven tax -- put it into a shell bill renamed AB 1493, passed it, and sent it to the Assembly for approval. Note that this was all done on the weekend, when people are paying much less attention. It doesn't get much more underhanded than that.

Better call your state representatives now, folks.

Hi! That's me, front & center on the last pic (sunglasses and hat). I only wish I'd thought to bring a witty sign!

For those that weren't there, the Placer county Republicans were handing out teabags (some were in envelopes addressed to Davis, mine is already mailed) while the assembly inside was voting to confiscate even more of my money. It's too bad those politicians have never had to work for a living, they might be a little more understanding and a little less likely to spend our hard-earned bucks so freely!
