RAJOURI/POONCH, June 28: Three terrorists of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) outfit and an army jawan were killed while a civilian was injured in an encounter at Chund Dhok in Budh Kanari area of Darhal police station this morning. In a separate encounter, army gunned down two infiltrators on the LoC in Angan Pathri in Poonch sector.

Official sources said army and police started a joint search operation in Chund Dhok last night after getting an information that five terrorists had sneaked in to the village and were hiding in a dhok of Mohd Bashir Malik.

As security personnel were approaching the dhok, two terrorists managed to slip out and fled to a forest area. Security forces acted tactfully and got the house inmates and other people in vicinity of the dhok vacated. They said the terrorists by early this morning were asked to come out of the dhok and surrender.

However, the terrorists started heavy firing from the dhok forcing army and police jawans to retaliate. A heavy exchange of firing continued between the two sides for more than two hours in which all three terrorists, left in the dhok, were killed. An army jawan also sacrificed his life in the gun-fighting.

A civilian Imtiyaz Malik, grandson of the dhok owner Mohd Bashir Malik was also trapped in the encounter and got injured. He has been evacuated to hospital.

Bodies of two slain terrorists were recovered from the hideout while the third terrorist had been roasted alive inside. Two terrorists, whose bodies were recovered, have been identified as Shaheen Hamzi and Kareem Ahmed Abbasi, both hailing from Bagh district of Pakistan. They were affiliated with HUJI outfit.

Recoveries made from the scene of encounter included two AK-56 rifles, nine magazines, two hand grenades and one radio set. Sources said one AK rifle and ammunition were burnt inside the hideout. Besides, four cattle were also roasted alive in the dhok.

Troops continued a search operation for two terrorists, who escaped during the encounter.

Meanwhile, army gunned down two infiltrators on the LoC at Garanga Chor Gali in Angan Pathri area of Mandi sector in Poonch district early this morning.

The infiltrators were killed after a four hour long encounter with army, Defence sources said in Poonch, adding the encounter took place in Pir Panjal range and was executed by the troops of Poonch Brigade.

This was the first infiltration attempt noticed on the LoC after Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf announced a halt to infiltration from Pakistan.

Sources said the total number of infiltrators was between four to six. Other terrorists had fanned out in Pir Panjal range and were being searched by the security personnel. Two AK rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the scene of encounter. Identity of the slain terrorists hadn’t been established so far but they were believed to be the foreign mercenaries.

Nothing much here just a couple of dead jihadis and some civilians caught in the crossfire.

I guess a couple of infiltrators from Pakistan is not enough to go to war over. Too bad.

That's a rather pleasant way to describe it, LOL.

I think India knows that some infiltrators may be able to elude both Pakistani and Indian forces to cross the border, and isn't likely to go to war over some isolated incidents like this. I'm glad it turned out as it did.
