The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the force that the USO so serves.

On behalf of TF Rakkasan and myself let me thank you for your letter, your kind thoughts and most important you support. Your desire to send care packages to the soldiers of TF Rakkasan is wonderful in itself. We are lucky here because we have had the support of you great Americans every since we got here. As for the packages we will be deploying home soon after 7 months and I am afraid your packages would get lost in the system somewhere, but please know your letter and thoughts are more important to us than a package and for that we can't thank you enough!
Sincerely,
R. Herman

Anniversary of the Start of the Second Balkan War. ________________________________
|
On this day in 1913 War Second Balkan War |
The Second Balkan War began when Serbia, Greece, and Romania quarreled with Bulgaria over the division of their joint conquests in Macedonia. On June 1, 1913, Serbia and Greece formed an alliance against Bulgaria, and the war began on the night of June 29/30, 1913, when King Ferdinand of Bulgaria ordered his troops to attack Serbian and Greek forces in Macedonia. The Bulgarians were defeated, however, and a peace treaty was signed between the combatants on Aug. 10, 1913. Under the terms of the treaty, Greece and Serbia divided up most of Macedonia between themselves, leaving Bulgaria with only a small part of the region.
As a result of the Balkan Wars, Greece gained southern Macedonia as well as the island of Crete. Serbia gained the Kosovo region and extended into northern and central Macedonia. Albania was made an independent state under a German prince. The political consequences of the wars were considerable. Bulgaria, frustrated in Macedonia, looked to Austria for support, while Serbia, which had been forced by Austria to give up its Albanian conquests, regarded Vienna with greater hostility than ever.72,500 lives lost in 42 days of fighting

Hi my friend, I agree with you. America has it all! Each State is so special and unique.
Those in our military from each State that get to lurk here can get a smile for a day to see some photos of back home.
So good to see you.

The Raven ....this was your question to me ......" why is this thread in News/Activism and others like it are in General Interst?".....
That is an easy question to answer. Jim Robinson told me he wanted it this way.
I would suppose because it is more then General Interest. We post news here about our troops serving now.And news of their families as well. We are what you might say a running thread that brings many of the troops and their familes in contact with each other. As well as information that pertains to our military that is allowed and safe for all involved.
Our troops are news as well as Heros.
Also we are a support for the famililes of those serving that are FReepers . Also it is a place to thank our Veterans for serving our country and we have threads about how they can find information out about the VA and many other things that can help them. News items in many ways.
To: The Raven
The USO Canteen FReeper Style has been an on going thread since October 7th, 2001.

Good Morning Snow Bunny!
As usual, your taste and style are only exceeded by your intelligence, and compassion!
Still cleaning up after torrential rains, that left our basement in a bit of a mess. (Its getting better though...)
The 82nd Army National Guard Band put on a wonderful concert here last week.
Fittingly, it was the best night of the week. You all would have loved it.
My family enjoyed it very much.
Hope your day is great!
Hugs!
