[history]
June 29, 2002 -- SAN JOSE, Calif. - Twice in the past two years, Apple Computer executives sold company stock for millions just weeks before Apple warned of disappointing earnings. Each warning sent shares tumbling.
While the sales could have an innocent explanation, analysts consider them unusual because there were no other large stock dumps by Apple executives during the same period.

My, my. Corporate greed at saintly Apple? Who'da thunk it?

Insider sales are ofetn "well timed." That is why they are disclosed. If people have any class, they start selling a Q or two before things fall apart. Hanging on to the end is gauche.

I got tired of my PC crashing all the time, so I got an Apple. BIG mistake, it hangs up all the time, sucks for internet browsing, software is limited and overpriced and the operating system is not "intuitive" as they claim. (Thats just an excuse for not including an instruction manual in the price).
Its supposed to be a good machine for graphic arts. But when I tried to edit photos on it (using 3 different programs), it constantly crashed and destroyed my work.
The Apple customer service people could not solve the hang-up problems, and blamed it on the software. The software people blamed it on Apple. I dreaded turning it on, and just looking at it gave me heartburn. It was a total and complete waste of $1,500 and many frustrating hours. I ended up buying a new Dell, which was much cheaper and I am happy with it.
I noticed the new TV commercial spokesman is an effeminate overweight 30ish hair gelled geek with birth control eyeglasses claiming to be a "freelance artist" (in other words, he lives at home in mother's basement).
Can't help business very much when not only the product stinks, but the target consumer is an unemployed loser.

Apple (alias "Liberals 'R' Us") doing one of these 'insider deals'?
Is it just me, or does it seem that a lot of these insiders who bagged it and beat it are liberals? The Democrats had better think twice before steaming ahead with plans to pin all of this on Republicans.

Just remember, if Steve Jobs had been so damn proprietary with Apple, he'd be the billionaire and Gates would still be in engineering. Think VHS and BETA. BETA was far superior, but SONY wouldn't allow it to be an "open" system, so guess who won?

Which machine was this?
I only ask, 'cause I'm on my 4th incarnation. 7100 to G3 Laptop to Upgraded 7500 to G4 450.
And I don't use as many programs, doubtless. Just the Adobe design suite, and GoLive, and three or four web browsers, so I probably can't duplicate the amazing complexity of whatever operation it is that crashed your box.
The 'new spokesman,' by the way, is one of about half a dozen. Half of whom are IT professionals.
But you're right on one count. Geek boy does feed the stereotype.
Um, by the way... I recently got my Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop upgrades. Darnedest thing... they all cost the same for Mac as they did for windows.
Don't worry though. Probably just an isolated incident.
Of course, now we have something of a conundrum. For if my computer(s) function perfectly, and yours do not, we are presented with a problem. Since we all know it's always the hardware or the software, and there is no other element in the equation.

with birth control eyeglasses I love this description! Know exactly the type you mean. We have tons of them here on the left coast.
I too went through the Mac PC thing, with daily frustrations. I had started on an old MAC SE, and had tremendous luck with that. With its measily 2 mgs it cooked right along for word processing. When I moved up to the bigger Mac is when the troubles started. Finally just GAVE it away and bought an IBM. So far so good.

its a Power Mac G4 with some extra crap Mac sold me to make it more "powerful" for graphic arts work. I used the Adobe programs too. Nothing but trouble. Constant work-erasing hang ups. I got desperate and installed a program to operate PC software, same problem. And internet surfing crawled at about half the speed of a PC. Complete junk, I should have been tipped off by the crappy one-button mouse. Never again.

Ok, Ok, I won't buy that IMac I was thinking of buying! Just what is the scoop behind calling those squinty little glasses on guys "birth control" glasses?

...birth control glasses ....
Because if you wear them, no one will have sex with you. That's my understanding. Military term if I'm not mistaken.
My friend is an Apple devotee and she has had a few bad Apple machines as well. When Apple switches models and makes big changes, their stuff sucks just like the Intel/Windows equipment (buy a Compaq and you will see).
Those Mac commercials do irritate me though.

Nothing but trouble. Constant work-erasing hang ups.Horse Puckey! I'd bet my eye teeth all you had to do was increase the RAM to the programs and they wouldn't have crashed. That's Mac 101.
My wife runs the graphic arts department for a local TV station and the ONLY non-TV specific computers they use are Mac G4s.

So, Apple is the next big business to be attacked is it? Is this going to be President Bush's fault too?
To: rageaholic
I have a five year old Mac with 32 mgs of RAM. No crash in four years. I can have AOL,spellcheck, Netscape, Real Player and Photoshop (the kiddie version) all running at once.Almost wish it would break so I would have a reason to upgrade.

Don't know if you're serious, but I really like my flat screen iMac. Boosted the memory to 640 megs, and it is a lot of fun. It IS slower on surfing than PCs, but I'm running Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Office X, and the Canon utilities and haven't had any problems.
The slowness in web-surfing is because OSX currently uses the CPU to do some of the processing, as opposed to handing it off (at least that's the explanation in the tests) Jaguar is supposed to fix that.
The thing I really like about the mac is getting away from Windows. Office X is very well behaved, and I don't have any of that Microsoft programs shutting themselves down because I made too many changes to the system. That was the main reason I switched. As to the birth control glasses, those aren't restricted to Apple guys:

Nothing but trouble. Constant work-erasing hang ups.Dude, I work in a studio that has hundreds and hundreds of Macs. I've earned my living on Macs since 1993. I have 2 at home, along with scads of peripherals. None of what you have said is true. I think the problem is YOU.

Hmm, why is it that each and every thread about the computer industry ends up in endless pointless arguments about the merits of one operating system over another? Don't people tire of this?
To: WorldWatcher1
You're right. It is tiresome. But I've seen this post by this "rage" fellow before, previously posted in a different thread. I ignored it then but this time I responded. Why? Because it's a pack of lies and when I see something posted that I KNOW from personal experience is a pack of lies I try to set the record straight.
Or I could ignore it again and let the lies stand. Would that help someone who is considering purchasing a Mac?

Yes, that is exactly what the Apple service people told me to do, no effect. Still hung up and ate my work. Junk.
