OH, but wait! All the Israel-sycophants here on FR will TELL you that the Jewish vote is going to the GOP. So this story can't be right.

If he doesn't get jerky, I'm sure Bush would be happy to give him some Middle East-area post to end his public service career in (being that he's Jewish and has international relations experience).

“Rep. Gilman is one of the all-too-few Republican moderates, being pro-choice and supportive of the separation of church and state.

Let me see if I can sum up my feelings on this RINO being farmed out to pasture.

Bye-bye Bernie.

This is very old news, and the article is inane. What happened had nothing to do with Gilman's religion. It had to do with both parties wanting their favorites to not have to worry about re-election in any way, shape of form. That included Reynolds, Sweeny, Hinchey and Lowey. TGhe Dems also wanted to shore up Israel. Gilman is still trying to overturn the plan, and is taking polls regarding running against (1)Kelly as a Republican, (2) Kelly as a Democrat, (3) Hinchey as a Republican, and (4)Engle as a Republican. I consider number 3 the most likely. If he loses, he will be richly rewarded. The other options promise no rewards for a loss, and thus offer up downside risk. Number 3 is the most likely option also IMO for Gilman staying in Congress.

This is hilarious, so in order to be more diverse the Republicans should support a liberal over a conservative. This is diversity run amok. So much for a colorblind America. The new rule seems to be discrimination is not only acceptable but its morally laudable, as long as the racial discrimination is directed against whites.

Why switch?...There's little difference between the two parties and the liberals are getting more than they hoped for.

More proof that our politicians put their personal power first.

I hope congressrat Gilman doesn't let the door hit him in his "moderate" posterior. Too bad he can't take the rest of the moderates with him in order that all our enemies are on the same identifiable side.

The Republican party is in dire need of a cleansing laxative!

...“While of course we would very happily welcome Representative Gilman into the Democratic family with open arms, it is simply a shanda – a disgrace – that Republican leaders in New York and Washington would not be more supportive of one of only two Jewish House Republicans,” said Ira N. Forman, Executive Director of the National Jewish Democratic Council.

As if Ira Foreskin gives two $hits about any Republicans.

Gilman will be 80 years old in December -- time for him to hang it up.

Retire gracefully, Mr. Gillman. Go rock on the front porch and enjoy your grandchildren.
